Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Nuclear Surety Program Manager 2 to join our team. This leadership role will be located in either Roy, Utah or Huntsville, Alabama and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do: 

Candidate will be part of the Nuclear Surety team and responsible delivery of all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support achieving on-time Nuclear Certification of the GBSD Weapon System. 

The position requires experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS).  Candidate must also be able to effectively communicate complex technical issues and solutions.  A successful track record of program performance, interpersonal team building skills, and management experience is highly desired.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Perform Program Manager responsibilities and oversight of the Nuclear Surety Suppliers
  • Drive execution of the Nuclear Surety Scope of Work
  • Develop and adhere to master plans and schedules
  • Identify, allocate and manage program resources, including workforce planning 
  • Develop and adhere to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost & schedule control methodologies and tools 
  • Identify risks and opportunities and coordinate with project teams to mitigate and retire risks
  • Ensure the program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities 
  • Adhere to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards 
  • Deliver presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in STEM with 6 years of related experience with Bachelor’s; 4 years with Master’s; 2 years with PhD
  • Minimum 3 years of experience providing technical and/or programmatic leadership of a team
  • 1 year of demonstrated EVM experience/knowledge
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a background investigation close date within the past 5 years

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent efforts
  • Active DOD Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience as a Control Account Manager (CAM) for effort greater than $50M
  • Demonstrated Project Management experience to include supplier management
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and defining staffing requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in development of Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
  • Experience working with Nuclear Surety Requirements and the Nuclear Certification process (e.g. AFI 63-125, AFMAN 91-118/91-119/31-108, DODM 5210.41, AFI 91-107)
  • Experience in the nuclear surety aspects of nuclear weapon systems
  • Experience with risk management (identification and development of risks) and driving risk mitigations to closure
  • Prior experience and working knowledge of the GBSD program

Salary Range: 121400 - 182000

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
