Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Logistics Program Manager 2 to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

The primary responsibilities of the LPM lead includes providing technical and administrative leadership and guidance to the GBSD Integrated Product Teams (IPT) and Suppliers. This includes managing a team comprised of both technical and program support personnel required to resolve technical issues, ensure compliance to both technical and contractual obligations, and ultimately to ensure compliance with the technical performance metrics (TPMs) documented within the contract Statement of Work (SOW) requirements. This includes establishing a plan and schedule that is aligned with the GBSD Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) and meets program needs.

  • Demonstrate strong technical and managerial leadership skills
  • Demonstrate a broad skill set that is balanced between interpersonal, business, and technical capabilities
  • Be an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholder
  • Deliver all contractual requirements on cost and on schedule, while achieving all technical requirements and creating customer intimacy to support value creation strategies and actions
  • Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Participate in the establishment and management of the program and subordinate baselines
  • Develop and adhere to master plans and schedules
  • Identify, allocate and manage program resources
  • Develop and adhere to budget baselines utilizing Earned Value Management (EVM) or similar cost & schedule control methodologies and tools 
  • Identify risks and opportunities and coordinate with project teams to mitigate and retire risks
  • Ensure the program team understands and adheres to contract scope, and manages change through control board activities 
  • Adhere to all internal processes, policies, and applicable industry standards 
  • Deliver presentations to customers, executive management and other program stakeholders
  • Travel required to support supplier integration and test activities

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum 7 years of related experience or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience leading a project or program.  
  • 1 year of demonstrated Earned Value Management (EVM) knowledge and/or experience.
  • Current active DOD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance.


  • Bachelor’s in engineering, Science Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) or related discipline
  • Received Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in Program Management of relevant military or commercial equipment
  • Previous experience working ICBMs
  • Experience in the nuclear surety aspects of nuclear weapon systems
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance
  • Special background investigation within the past 5 years
  • Experienced in all aspects of the engineering development lifecycle
  • Proficient with Teamcenter
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
  • Possess excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Salary Range: 102500 - 153700

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
