Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • You will be responsible for creating, delivering, and maintaining high-value education content through a variety of delivery environments (e.g. hands-on labs, interactive e-Learning, instructor-led) to support program needs.

  • You will be seen as a subject matter expert on concepts and will excel in transferring knowledge to internal customers and stakeholders.

  • You will collaborate with diverse subject matter experts and stakeholders to identify specific training needs, develop solutions for satisfying unique skills-based training, and ensure accuracy and completeness of training.

  • You will develop training solutions in an Agile work environment, iterating the training based on feedback, lessons learned, and effectiveness evaluations.

  • You will rapidly learn new technologies and apply learning principles to distill that knowledge into effective lessons.

  • You will maintain and improve upon the existing content library.

  • You will assess knowledge gaps and assist in developing solutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal level or level Sr. Principal level.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline
  • A minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s; or 0 years with PhD. (Sr. Principal level requires 9 years with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a Master’s degree; or 4 years with a PhD)
  • U.S. Citizenship and able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance and Special Access Program Clearance
  • At least 2 years of experience with MBSE knowledge and MBSE tools (e.g.: Cameo, Rhapsody, DOORS, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher awarded or reviewed in the last 6 years
  • Experience developing, implementing, and iterating trainings based on customer needs
  • Training needs analysis to inform objectives and training design
  • Strong MBSE knowledge and MBSE tools (e.g.: Cameo, Rhapsody, DOORS, etc.)
  • 5 years of MBSE experience
  • Design and development of curriculum for advanced technologies or systems engineering
  • Prior experience applying Agile Engineering principles and methodologies
  • Experience with Atlassian tools, such as Jira and Confluence
  • Demonstrated ability to learn technical concepts autonomously and apply the knowledge
  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment with diverse assignments and collaborative team settings
  • Proven success working multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate complex technical concepts to audiences of diverse technical backgrounds


Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
