Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer / Principal Systems Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

What you’ll get to do: 

The selected candidate will be a key member of the Digital Engineering Environment (DEE) Agile Product Management team, the Product Systems Analyst: Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Supports DEE Product Owner (PO) and scrum master(s) on product definition and features in sufficient detail so that the DEE product development team can review, commit, and execute within a defined period of performance
  • Captures and analyzes data and requirements on key areas of work on product backlog items during a program increment,
  • Ensures that the DEE product development team understands the intent and requirements of features and user story definitions, and that the team is aligned on all acceptance criteria or the ‘definition of done’ per requirement, feature or user story
  • Supports the DEE PO to perform verification and validation (or testing) tasks as sprints and program increments (PIs) are completed.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Systems Engineer level or level Principal level.

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics)
  • A minimum 2 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 0 years with a Master’s (Principal level requires 5 years with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s degree; or 0 years with a PhD)
  • U.S. Citizenship with the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance within reasonable time, and to obtain DoD Top Secret and Special Access Program Clearance
  • Technical experience with requirements analysis, systems development, integration, implementation, or operations of complex large-scale information systems and technologies; digital systems and digital engineering roadmaps

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active DOD Top Secret security clearance
  • Leadership, experience building or working in agile teams; excellent written and oral communications skills; emphasis on drawing, modeling and communicating systems engineering and digital engineering roadmaps and concepts (e.g., Digital Thread or Digital Twin)
  • Ability to provide total system perspective including a technical understanding of relationships, dependencies and requirements of hardware and software components for a project, agile concepts like scrum, XP, SAFe
  • Ability to independently prioritize, plan and execute work tasks in a rapidly changing environment
  • Prior experience supporting various classified environments, and meeting government and security requirements or cybersecurity concepts including SAP, JSIG, JAFAN 6/3, STIG, RMF, ICD 705 and DFARS
  • Exposure to Web development or Cloud architecture like AWS or Azure
  • Knowledge of:
    • MBSE (CAMEO)
    • Siemens Teamcenter Unified
    • Docker, Jenkins and/or Kubernetes
    • Microsoft SharePoint
    • IBM DOORS
    • Atlassian JIRA or Confluence
    • SW programming language like Python, Javascript or web programming language, Java, .NET language (e.g., C#, VB#, ASP.NET, etc.), Matlab
    • Databases like: Oracle, SQL Server, Apache or Access"

Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
