Northrop Grumman Space Systems has an opening for a Principal Engineer Level 3 or Senior Principal Engineer Level 4 to join the Global Supply Chain Engineering Team of qualified, diverse individuals.

This position will be located in Roy, Utah or Huntsville, AL and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here

The Team

The Global Supply Chain Engineering Team is responsible for supply base technical management related to the acquisition of Space mission electronic and mechanical hardware. The Role

This high visibility position requires a motivated, self-starter with an engineering and hardware background and excellent interpersonal skills to lead efforts in response to program customer product needs and concerns.  The engineer should be able to readily apply mechanical engineering fundamentals to creatively solve problems and learn quickly while managing their projects independently. 

Candidate will be expected to work effectively with Materials & Processes (M&P) and other Engineering organizations to drive technical solutions for supplier and manufacturer activities in support of Global Supply Chain efforts and Space related missions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Perform product capability and producibility reviews
  • Perform technical evaluations of supplier quotes
  • Support internal processes associated with program part/product selection and qualification driven by supplier engineering change requests. 
  • Work closely with project engineers, QA and Suppliers to ensure compliance to flow down requirements from customers.
  • Possess ability to work both independently and as a team player and must demonstrate the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of program customers and functional organization leadership.

Some travel to supplier facilities and other Northrop Grumman facilities, may be required.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer Level 3:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
  • 5 years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing role
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for Senior Principal Engineer Level 4:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technical, Engineering, or Math (STEM)
  • 9 years of experience in an Engineering or Manufacturing role
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

Basic Qualifications for Principal Engineer (level 3) and Senior Principal Engineer (level 4:_

  • Demonstrated experience to formulate and execute technical solutions to electronic part, assembly, and process engineering challenges
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing engineering specifications, schematics and drawings with the ability to translate customer driven requirements into specifications
  • Demonstrated application of innovative solutions to complex problems that arise within the design, development, and production phases

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Electro-Mechanical and/or Electronic Component/Commodity Engineering experience
  • Experience and understanding of standards for the production of high reliability connectors, cable/harnesses, or printed wiring board fabrication and assembly
  • SAP or other ERP system experience
  • Project Management experience
  • Knowledge of FAR & DFAR requirements
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100 requirements

Salary Range: $98,700 USD - $155,900 USD
Salary Range 2: $79,700 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
