Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking to add a Consulting Systems Architect to its Engineering team located in Roy, UT (preferred), Huntsville, AL, or Colorado Springs, CO.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain a roadmap for program Model-Based Systems Engineering efforts (system definition, system integration, verification planning, logistics planning, and specialty engineering)
  • Provide day-to-day technical leadership for system architecture development
  • Provide technical leadership for system architecture approach and governance definition that enables program-wide execution of digital engineering
  • Support digital thread and integration definition to support overall engineering process and workflow definition & execution
  • Collaborate with customer counterparts to ensure customer understanding of model content and help communicate concerns and issues back to the program
  • Support Agile execution as coach, product owner, and stakeholder / reviewer as required
  • Work across organizational boundaries at the working level to support consistent understanding and quality of products
  • Role model cultural and Agile best practices and drive openness to external perspectives
  • Interact with the division homeroom and digital transformation offices to provide insight about program challenges and needs and to support review and deployment of processes and solutions to the program.
  • Travel is expected 25% of the time (location dependent)

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.  This position may include relocation assistance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in STEM with 20 years of experience in engineering and/or operations; Masters Degree in STEM with 18 years of experience in in engineering and/or operations ; PhD in STEM with 15 years with of experience in in engineering and/or operations
  • Experience developing large (>100K element) descriptive architecture models using UAFP, UPDM, and/or SysML
  • Experience working with Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
  • Experience with MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) with CAMEO
  • Experience working on sustainment and/or modernization of long lifecycle systems
  • Active Secret Security Clearance reviewed within the last 6 years, and the ability to obtain SAP access

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Unified Architecture Framework (UAF)
  • Experience with interfacing with engineering and operations tools to support a digital thread through the product development lifecycle (Preferred: Cameo, DOORS, NX, Mentor, TeamCenter Unified)
  • Demonstrated experience in leading Model-Based Systems Engineering efforts
  • Experience collaborating across organizational boundaries to develop integrated approaches to problems that balance flexibility and consistency
  • Proven knowledge of successful design, architecture and development
  • Possesses a deep understanding of benefits/drawbacks of different integration approaches
  • Experience in model-based product development
  • Expert troubleshooting skills, and able to rapidly resolve complex and difficult challenges
  • Previous leadership experience on ICBM programs
  • Advanced STEM degree
  • Active Top Secret and/or SAP program access
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Salary Range: $166,200 USD - $249,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
