Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Quality Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel program.  This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

What You’ll Get To Do:  

Quality Control Engineer will ensure the project is built within contract document specifications, owner requirements, and comply with local, state and federal building codes. They will coordinate with other trades, process daily reports of project progress and adhere to all guidelines issued by owner.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Work in conjunction with the owner and with the field staff to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction and completion
  • Manage inspections process
  • Coordinate third party testing agents as outlined in the quality control plan
  • Implement and manage the quality control plan.
  • Closely track and maintain a project deficiency log
  • Manage the “Three Phases of Control”
  • Schedule and conduct quality control meetings - Preparatory, Initial Phase, Follow-up
  • Interface with customer representative as required and Inspector of Record on a daily basis
    Encourage, lead, and/or participate in staff training and development
  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality.
  • May be certified in lean and six-sigma quality engineering methodologies.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.   

You’ll Bring These Qualifications: 

  • Principal Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD.
  • Senior Principal Engineer: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD.
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP).
  • Documentable training and field experience on building construction products including aerospace or defense projects with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Verifiable construction quality control and/or inspection experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Must be able to coordinate independent material testing and analyze results of lab work.
  • Prior experience developing and managing Quality Control Plans.
  • Successful completion of USACE-sponsored Military – CQM training

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have: 

  • Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) Certification or equivalent or successful completion of a state Quality Inspector Apprenticeship Training Program.
  • Work in conjunction with the Owner and with field staff to ensure quality and timeliness of project construction completion.
  • Manage inspections progress.
  • Oversee submittal review and approval process.
  • Establish testing procedures in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Closely track and maintain a project deficiency log.
  • Manage the punchlist process.
  • Manage the “Three Phases of Control”.
  • Control documents related to quality control functions.
  • Schedule and conduct quality control meetings – Preparatory, Initial Phase and Follow-up.
  • Encourage, lead and/or participate in staff quality training and development.

Salary Range: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $97,800 USD - $148,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
