Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Staff Mechanical Engineer to join the Division Engineering Design Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports Strategic Deterrence Systems Division Engineering function.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will report to the manager of Engineering Design within the SDS Engineering Design Directorate and will be a project lead, a contributing team member, and mentor as required:

•Support multiple programs within the Strategic Deterrent Systems (SDS) Division for development of Processes and Governance for their application and use

•Utilize their high degree of understanding of Mechanical Design Best Practice and Processes for Missile Systems, to include materials, analysis and hardware specifications

•Lead the Community of Practice (CoP) Structures and Mechanical Design for the Mechanical Engineering Homeroom

•Provide oversite review of Parts, Materials, and Processes (PM&P) for new/revised specifications related to Mechanical parts, components, materials and processes prior to release for engineering design

•Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for all SDS programs for new proposals, Critical Design Reviews, and Mechanical Design Analysis Reviews

•Support Common Product Lifecycle Management (CPLM) design questions in the digital environment (NX CAD products)

•Provide training support for the Mechanical Engineering Homeroom

•Coordination to ensure Standards and Processes are being observed for governance and compliance with Corporate, Sector, Division and Gov’t regulations for mandatory procedures, manuals, forms and work instructions

•Collaborate closely with other IPT Subject Matter Experts

•You will have the opportunity to interact with many cross functional organizations

•Provide mentor guidance to Homeroom Engineers and support staff

•Staff Engineers are expected to work towards long term organizational goals, by improving processes

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

•Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 14 years of related experience; 12 years with Master’s Degree; 9 years with PhD

•Experience with application of aerospace mechanical engineering technical standards

•Experience in all phases of mechanical design for complex systems (design concept, detail design, manufacture, test)

•US citizen with ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

•Master’s Degree or PhD related to Mechanical Engineering

•Experience mentoring and leading small teams

•Broad technical expertise and working knowledge of other related engineering disciplines (i.e. Systems Engineering, Electrical, Analysis)

•Missile Design Experience

•Experience in the use of Model Based Engineering Design (NX is preferred) for design and analysis of Structural/Mechanical parts

•Active DoD Secret Clearance or higher

Salary Range: $122,500 USD - $183,700 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
