Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a SIL (Systems Integration Lab) Systems Test Engineering Manager 2 to join its team of diverse professionals in support of the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel (GBSD) program here.  Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

As the System Test Engineering Manager, you report to the Lab Design, Operation and Test (LDOT) System Test Engineering Lead and will lead a large diverse multi-disciplined team of engineers supporting the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent program. You will be responsible for providing task-oriented direction to your team utilizing management guidelines & general policies.  The test planning and execution team is responsible for the integration and testing of both hardware and software at the system level.  You will a team to execute the Test Procedure Development and execution process including the development, checkout, peer review, dry-run, and formal execution of system level test procedures as well as Test Summary Reports and Post-Test Reviews.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • System Level test planning, execution, and program performance for the system test team in the Weapon System- Systems Integration Lab (WS SIL)
  • Supporting cross team, cross IPT, cross functional working groups to ensure efficiency and best practices
  • This job will also give you the opportunity to grow the people on your team.  Additional responsibilities will include:
  • Staffing your team
  • Building a culture that empowers and motivates individual performance, and establishes functional shared accountability with the program areas
  • Setting employee performance goals and provide performance feedback.
  • Supporting the annual salary review process
  • Mentoring and developing the next generation of technical and project leadership
  • Occasional support of proposal activities
  • Control Account Manager (CAM) utilizing Earned Value Management principles to track and report team progress.  Develop and administer budgets and standards of performance.
  • Responsible for the engineering process development, continuous improvement, and affordability initiatives within the various training systems and systems assigned
  • Manages risks, change requests and opportunities for all engineering scope within the LDOT System Test Engineering discipline.
  • Utilize sound engineering practices to develop and execute high quality test plans/procedures following all applicable NG Principles and Operating Practices

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline from accredited institution with minimum 6 years of experience in systems engineering and/or test disciplines.
  • 3 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule in a test management/planning, project management or similar role.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance investigated within the last 5 years

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to collaborate across cross functional teams
  • Prior test planning and execution experience as well as advanced knowledge of NG Test Planning and Test procedure development processes.
  • Solid technical and team leadership characteristics
  • Experience developing Integrated Test Plans for large complex systems of systems
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large and diverse teams, drive a culture of performance and inclusion, foster development and enable collaboration across engineering and operational disciplines
  • Proficient in MS Office Products – Powerpoint, Word, Visio, Excel
  • Advanced Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Experience with CAMEO and digital engineering environments.
  • Experience with IBM Jazz test execution software suite.
  • Experience with Agile
  • Experience developing Lab Architecture models
  • Experience creating VCDs
  • TS/SAP Clearance

Salary Range: $112,700 USD - $169,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
