Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Principal/Senior Principal Material Process Engineer. This position will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package. This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

What you’ll get to do: 

Candidate will be responsible to perform point of contact (POC) duties on behalf of Parts, Materials, and Processes engineering department (PM&P) during the design of weapon systems and equipment under an overarching Systems Engineering framework.

Candidate will demonstrate ability to communicate effectively across engineering disciplines and design teams. Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively to resolve issues, determine priorities, and implement solutions. Candidate experience with military standards and specifications is preferred.

Candidate will demonstrate general knowledge of Systems Engineering, multi-generational program system and/or multi-generational program subsystem development, and familiarity with supplier management.

Applicant is expected to work independently to provide innovative technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.

Candidate will be self-motivated, work under general direction, and work well in teams.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80A. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal level or level Sr. Principal level.

You’ll bring these qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) degree
  • A minimum 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; 3 years with a Master’s; or 0 years with PhD. (Sr. Principal level requires 9 years with a Bachelor’s degree; 7 years with a Master’s degree; or 4 years with a PhD)
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with investigation within the last 5.5 years or in Continues Evaluation/Deferred
  • U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access
  • Experience in leading teams to ensure that PM&P program or contract requirements are applied to EEE parts and assemblies
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office tools
  • Familiar with military standards and specifications

These qualifications would be nice to have:

  • An Active, In-Scope DOD Secret Security Clearance or higher that has been granted / renewed within the past 6 years
  • Special Program Access
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint, JIRA, Confluence, Microsoft teams, siemens teamCenter or other life cycle management system
  • Design experience of PWB’s, CCA’s, cables, wire harnesses
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings and engineering data for EEE parts and assemblies
  • Understanding of supply chain management as it relates to EEE parts management and obtaining technical specifications on components
  • Excellent 2-way communication skills (upward and downward)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management

Salary Range: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD
Salary Range 2: $98,700 USD - $140,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
