Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Deployment and Transition Field Engineering Manager 1 (S01). This position will be located in Roy, UT or Promontory, UT and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do

The successful candidate for this position will perform the duties for Deployment of the GBSD weapon system. The successful candidate will assist in site buildup, system emplacement and modification of existing MMIII Launch Facilities. They will research, plan, design and develop schedules, procedures and material for upgrade projects to include electrical and electronic equipment, power systems components for the GBSD Weapon System.

Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Assesses product needs in accordance with customer specifications. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customers organization.

The successful candidate will conduct deployment planning to include installation for all weapon system equipment. For example:

  • Physical security
  • Security, keys, codes, and encryption of various communication systems
  • Launch control, flight racks, and command/monitoring equipment
  • LCC blast valves, LCC blast doors, LCC/LF shock isolation systems
  • Install, removal, transport, and receive the GBSD missile downstages to include GBSD aerospace vehicle equipment
  • Umbilical cables, suspension system, and launcher closure system
  • LF/LCC power and environmental systems
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Required support equipment to include common and peculiar; anything from hand tools to test equipment and special purpose vehicles
  • Support of nuclear certification

The successful candidate should also possess:

  • The ability to plan, document, and install assembly, disassembly, troubleshooting, and check-out of weapon system equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communications skills, be self-motivated, understand and exhibit a strong team work ethic and approach.
  • The ability to work closely with other IPT’s (Integrated Product Teams), Design Engineering IPT’s, Configuration Management, Systems Engineering, and Technical Publication Writing/Editing teams.

These positions will have a standard work schedule of 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree accredited institution with minimum 5 years of progressive experience. 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 1 year of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule in a project management or similar role.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance investigated within the last 6 years with ability to obtain SAP.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of Minuteman Missile Maintenance
  • Experience in 2M0X1 (EMT) or 2M0X2 (MMT/MHT) or 2M0X3 (FMT) USAF career fields
  • Advanced degree in a related field
  • Active Secret Security Clearance or higher
  • Prior experience fielding and deploying complex weapon systems
  • Proven experience working within Government production and deployment contracts
  • Experience building schedules and applying resources to meet aggressive milestones within budget constraints
  • Ability to obtain a US Top Secret Clearance and Special Program Access
  • Travel is up to 25%

Salary Range: $85,400 USD - $128,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
