Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This candidate will join Northrop Grumman’s Space System team supporting the Air Force’s Sentinel (Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD)) program. This position will be located in Roy, UT. Candidate will serve as the Technical Advisor and Subject Matter Expert for the Guidance, Navigation and Control team.

What you’ll get to do: 

  • Provide technical oversight and issue resolution for Guidance Computer hardware during development and test, including Spacewire performance, flight control driver performance, digital interfaces, and nuclear hardness
  • Provide technical direction and support to the hardware, software, and systems engineering teams in the development and documentation of hardware/software interfaces, including memory, registers, protocols, timing, and interrupts
  • Assist GC IPT Lead and GN&C Chief Engineer in risk identification and tracking, especially risks associated with GC and NIMS hardware
  • Liaison to Nuclear Hardness and Survivability in support of design, requirements verification, and test at parts, CCA, unit, and element levels
  • Liaison to GN&C and AVE I&T for issues related to GC and integrated GC/SW performance
  • Work with GCUTS development team on requirements, design, and production, including spiral updates and follow-on versions for sustainment support
  • Work with GCNCTS development team on requirements, design, and production, including spiral updates and follow-on versions for sustainment support
  • Provide other support to the GN&C Chief Engineer as needed

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

This position may offer a competitive relocation plan.


You’ll bring these qualifications:

•             Bachelor's Degree (STEM Degree) with 14 years of engineering experience; 12 years with Masters; 10 Years with PhD.

•             An active DoD Secret or Top-Secret Clearance

•             Experience developing and managing technical requirements for military/aerospace subcontractors

•             Strong CAD skills with experience developing wire diagrams or electrical schematics

•             Experience designing, analyzing, and developing a power budget for an electrical power system of a military / aerospace system

•             Experience developing multi discipline system architecture for a military / aerospace system

These qualifications would be nice to have:

•             20+ years of engineering experience on military / aerospace programs

•             Experience as a technical team lead

•             Experience working on an Agile team and/or as a Scrum Master or Product Owner

•             Excellent communication skills.

Salary Range: $194,700 USD - $224,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
