Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineering Manager 2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This leadership role is located in Roy, Utah and will support the Sentinel (GBSD) program. Learn more about the Sentinel (GBSD) program here.  Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

What you will get to do:

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • This position oversees and manages systems engineering processes
  • Lead team to orchestrate internal and external design reviews
  • Work as a high-level product owner for the SET MBSE training team.
  • Oversee and manage operational aspects of new and ongoing projects to support program technical and non-technical requirements
  • Work as primary liaison between Integrated Product Team (IPT) stakeholders and external stakeholders
  • Assessing project issues and assisting in developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives
  • Managing the process to resolve comments and actions pertaining to the design review process.
  • Manage program scheduling and customer deliverables.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM or related field of study with of 6 years of experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and/or project management in any industry. An additional 4 years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
  • Active Secret Clearance and ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance


  • Demonstrated experience leading digital transformation efforts and implementing change management principles
  • Demonstrated leadership and experience leading teams in support of program goals
  • Proven success managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent decision making and communication (written and oral) skills
  • Experience developing, implementing, and updating project schedules
  • General knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management principles and execution of a large complex DoD program
  • Highly experienced in consolidating stakeholder needs across multiple IPTs
  • Prior experience interfacing with USAF leadership personnel
  • Experience as a Scrum Master and Product Owner
  • Prior experience applying Agile Engineering principles and methodologies
  • Extensive experience with JIRA and Confluence tools
  • Working knowledge of processes and procedures related to all aspects of weapon system level Critical Design Reviews
  • Proven ability to thrive autonomously in a dynamic environment managing multiple efforts at once
  • Proven experience as a functional manager and leader
  • Working knowledge of contract and subcontract methodologies


Salary Range: $123,900 USD - $185,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
