Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Associate Mechanical Engineer / Mechanical Engineer to join the Support Systems Team. This position is in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate experience level.

What You’ll Get To Do:

The selected candidate will be responsible for creating and implementing deployable structures and mechanical mechanisms at the cutting edge of space technology.  You will have ownership of your work from the concept creation through the design and analysis phases and may also participate in the manufacturing, testing, and integration of the systems.  This role will utilize a Systems Engineering approach to establish Support Equipment (SE) functional and performance requirements and will include involvement in all phases of research and product lifecycle development starting with requirements, initial concepts, trade studies, early prime equipment design influence, design and development of the Support Equipment item, fabrication/procurement, engineering evaluation testing, verification, delivery of hardware, and support of delivered hardware. Will utilize understanding of CAD design principles and understanding of requirements that drive design to accomplish goals.

Roles and responsibilities:

The candidate will be responsible for their projects, preparing reports, and briefing leadership.  Frequent inter-organization and outside customer communication is required, and the candidate represents the organization in providing solutions to moderate-to-difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.  Will utilize an ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, including critical thinking and technical problem-solving skills

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

Associate Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 1 year of experience

Engineer: Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 2 years of experience; 0 years with Master’s Degree

•Experience with 3D design / 2D drawing CAD utilizing NX or similar software

•Experience establishing product requirements, design of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic or electrical equipment

•Experience with Microsoft Office Suite - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word

•US Citizenship with ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

•Master’s degree in STEM related discipline

•Hands on experience with equipment maintenance, fabrication, assembly, power, hand and measuring tools

•Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills

•Aerospace / ICBM maintenance experience

•Knowledge in design of mechanical and electrical ICBM subsystems

•Knowledge in the development of SE design solutions

•Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T

•Experience with NX CAD system

•Experience with Teamcenter/CPLM - Product Design

•Active DoD Secret clearance

Salary Range: $53,500 USD - $80,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $64,600 USD - $97,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
