Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Program Manager 3 to join its GBSD Production Planning team to lead the Manufacturing and Production operations planning effort related to successfully transitioning from EMD to Production phase. This position will be located in Roy, UT and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here.  Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure.

  • This position requires a comprehensive understanding of design, production and operation in a restricted access program environment, program management skills, proven strategic planning and business execution capabilities, as well as an ability to work collaboratively. 
  • The position will be one of the key leaders, representing the Manufacturing organization. This lead will be responsible as the Manufacturing interface with all IPTs, IWO partners, Supplier Management leads in establishing the guidance for the DoD Milestone C requirements and building the LRIP and Production Proposal efforts. 
  • The selected individual must have experience leading a development program transition to a high-rate production program encompassing all the aspects of the rate readiness planning activities.  In addition, the candidate should be able to interact and influence executive level management and communicate effectively with both oral and written presentations.

What you will get to do:

  • Lead and direct the Manufacturing team and the requirements management for the each IPT’s scope and the weapon systems integration
  • Provide leadership and technical expertise in the areas of Manufacturing Engineering and Tooling, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Master Production Scheduling and Operations Project Management disciplines
  • Serves as consultant to senior management in long-range company vision planning and strategic directions
  • The Manufacturing proposal lead who has the vision and people skills to execute effective proposal efforts of a multi-faceted proposal team participants
  • Define the RFP requirements and proposal deliverables to ensure comprehensive flow down to the internal and external teams
  • Manage and participate in the development of proposal deliverables and proposal reviews
  • Engage with the Manufacturing Technology Automation Strategy / Producibility review to how effectively infused into various proposal sections
  • Lead the end-to-end scheduling approach across the weapon systems integration that would encompass the product delivery schedules by fiscal year timelines aligned with key program milestones
  • Thoroughly understand the Milestone: C requirements across the IPTs scope in support of the transition to production milestones and delivery to customer for Production readiness
  • Proposal planning & execution would include the clear understanding of the major supplier and IWO partner scope aligned to the delivery
  • Maintain open communications with all Enterprise functions including Production, Engineering, Quality, GSC, Logistics, Production Engineering Homeroom and Integrated Product Teams (IPT's)
  • Outline specific objectives and processes that are focused on generating innovative solutions to moderately complex business problems
  • The candidate will need to demonstrate exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills, have the ability to multi-task and communicate effectively with varying levels of Customer, NGC, and Supplier employees and leadership

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM, plus 10 years of related work experience
  • 3 years of formal management experience to include performance review for direct reports
  • US Citizenship with active DoD Secret Clearance that has been granted or renewed within last 5 years
  • Must have the ability to obtain Special Program Access (PAR) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company to meet its business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in STEM or Business discipline
  • ICBM / Aerospace Systems Industry Experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to achieve consensus on complex topics
  • Excellent written, oral and presentation skills
  • A self-starter and able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced work environment
  • Knowledge and practice of AS6500 requirements including delivery of executable Manufacturing Plans and Manufacturing Readiness Assessments of internal and external suppliers
  • A proven track record of developing and implementing strategies for change
  • Prior experience operating in a dynamic environment of increasing production schedules from development through production transition and into high delivery rates
  • Experience standing up tools / processes / production schedules / metrics
  • Experience in high rate and/or high mix, low rating manufacturing environments
  • Experience and expertise with SFC systems and MES/SAP environments within aerospace for both fabrication and final assembly
  • Knowledge of MRP Systems and compliance
  • Experience with Lean/Six-Sigma (Value Stream Mapping, DMAIC, Cause & Effect; etc.)
  • Experience with multiple-level program environments utilizing common infrastructure and facilities

Salary Range: $147,700 USD - $221,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
