The Northrop Grumman Military Internship Program (NG-MIP) is an approved SkillBridge Program under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29 . NG-MIP is an opportunity for transitioning service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through an individual internship during their last 6 months of service, for up to 180 days. The Northrop Grumman Military internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

Responsibilities for this internship position are:

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SKillbridge) utilizing the DoDI guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals, Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.

Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly-trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

Outcome – Offer transitioning service member a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

· Has served at least 180 days on active duty

· Is within 12 months of separation or retirement

· Will receive an honorable discharge

· Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS

· Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months

· Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

We are currently seeking a Principal/Sr Principal Logistics Project Management to work with our Sentinel team in Roy, UT.

Logistics Project Management involves assessing the ongoing maturation of the GBSD weapon system development for impacts to operations and sustainment. This individual serves as liaison between project engineers, designers, internal and external organizations such as Global Supply Chain (GSC), suppliers and management teams. This individual will also engage with IPTs and their suppliers to understand and resolve technical engineering issues associated with reliability, availability, maintainability, and logistics.

Roles and Responsibilities

Provides experience-based suggestions to the design teams with the operational maintainer in mind. Coordinates feedback to design teams and suppliers. Will be proficient and knowledgeable in EMD acquisition contracts. General understanding of reliability and availability.

Prepares and manages schedules and prepares status reports on the health of the projects. Identifies risks and opportunities and coordinates with project teams to mitigate and retire risks. Develops and maintains trade studies to include reviewing & updating assessments by preparing Basis of Estimates (BOEs), performing quality checks on all proposal submittals, and attending design reviews. Evaluates issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction goals and objectives. Prepares heading check executive level briefings for management and develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and tools for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and customers. Must possess the ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment, work autonomously under general direction and will demonstrate critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

In this role, the selected candidate will (but not be limited to):

• Interface with inter-organizational management and external Customer to communicate technical briefing and program status.

• Support Program Management activities to ensure cost and schedule objectives are met; support program status efforts including Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tracking and Control Account Management (CAM) activities.

• Support the management of critical subcontractors developing and testing tactical missile technologies and delivery of quality products.

• Support system requirements development, management, analysis, and traceability, to translate customer requirements and CONOPS into systems requirements, and further allocate to lower level requirements.

• Perform functional analysis and systems trade studies for technical solutions with respect to concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance.

• Assist with the generation of well-defined and executable system and subsystem requirements documents, interface documents, and test and verification documents.

• Support system/subsystems integration, test, and requirements verification activities.

• Support system technical performance measurement definition and tracking.

• Support the preparation of system engineering materials during System Requirements Review, System Functional Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, System Verification Review, Test Readiness Review, and other program reviews as needed.

Basic qualifications for a Principal level (A03) are:

• US Citizenship with a DoD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Special Access Program Clearance

• Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience, 4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree

•             Must have excellent technical writing and Microsoft application skills. 

•             Good verbal and interpersonal skills required to work closely with teammates, stakeholders and both internal and external customers.

Basic qualifications for a Sr Principal level (A04) are:

• US Citizenship with a DoD Secret Clearance and ability to obtain Special Access Program Clearance

• Bachelor’s degree with 10 years of relevant experience, 4 additional years of experience may be used in lieu of a degree.

•             Must have excellent technical writing and Microsoft application skills. 

•             Good verbal and interpersonal skills required to work closely with teammates, stakeholders and both internal and external customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

•             Program management or operations experience

•             LVL 3: 5+ Years of ICBM Experience in 2M0X1 (EMT) or 2M0X2 (MMT/MHT) or 2M0X3 (FMT) USAF career fields for Principal

•             LVL 4: 10+ Years of ICBM Experience in 2M0X1 (EMT) or 2M0X2 (MMT/MHT) or 2M0X3 (FMT) USAF career fields for Sr. Principal

•             Aviation maintenance experience

•             Ability to effectively manage competing priorities and deadlines

•             Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

•             Excellent problem solving and organizational skills.


Salary Range: $72,400 USD - $108,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $89,800 USD - $134,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
