Explore your future and launch your career today.  Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Sr. Principal Sturctural Engineer to join the Command and Launch Team. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. What You’ll Get To Do: The qualified applicant will become part of a team supporting the development, production and deployment of Launch Equipment hardware and systems for each weapon system facility. The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other engineers. The selected candidate will focus on Launch Equipment mechanical subsystems which include shock isolated systems that protect equipment from severe shock environments. Specific duties to include, but are not limited to the following: •Analyzes, researches, and develops structural engineering specifications for metallic, non-metallic and composite structures in all phases of the product life cycle from preliminary design to sustainment. •Analysis of the structures could include loads development and dynamics, stress, stability, fatigue, and thermal assessment. •Analyses will be performed utilizing hand calculations and or finite element software packages such as Nastran and ABAQUS. •When finite element models (FEMs) are appropriate, critical thinking skills will be required to develop a FEM to capture appropriate behavior of complex non-linear structures. •Due to the complex nature of the systems analyzed, the position requires working closely with multiple engineering disciplines including but not limited to Computational Fluid Mechanics, System Engineering, and Mechanical Design to achieve program objectives in a timely manner. •Additional work responsibilities may include task planning, conducting technical peer reviews, and mentoring junior engineers. •Interface with AF customer As a full-time employee of Northrop Grumman Space Systems, you are eligible for our robust benefits package including:

Basic Qualifications: • A Bachelor of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) discipline and 9 years of relevant experience; Master’s Degree and 7 years; PhD and 4 years • Experience with finite element modeling and analysis • Current DoD Secret Security Clearance awarded or updated within last 6 years
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with programming languages such as MATLAB • Experience with ABAQUS and FEMAP • Navigate through NX 3D models and CPLM • TeamCenter CPLM experience
