Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking multiple Systems Engineering Managers to join our team. These leadership roles will be located in Roy, Utah and will support the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here. Northrop Grumman supports the Air Force’s sustainment, development, production and deployment of hardware and system modifications for Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) Ground and Airborne Launch Control Systems, Launch Facilities and associated infrastructure. What you will get to do: These individuals will manage a segment of a program or a function. Responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff. Responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing management guidelines & general policies. Program Manager Responsibilities include: planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract. Estimate of 80% Technical & 20% functional management activities. Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) Lead Manager 2: The Integrated Functional Capability Leader will coordinate the development and execution of the IFC Plan to support major milestone events, ensure transparency and visibility of IFC progress across the technical baseline, and partner closely with the Chief Engineer’s office on technical prioritization. The IFC role requires close coordination and collaboration with IPTs and Segments across the program responsible for HW/SW execution to ensure capabilities are being developed on a schedule that will support program demonstrations, leveraging harmonization of lean-Agile and traditional systems engineering processes. This role will utilize tools within a traditional systems engineering toolkit (DOORS), Model-Based Engineering (CAMEO), and Agile/DevOps frameworks (Jira, Confluence). Familiarity with the design process and systems engineering principles. Experience in making preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposals. Understands functional systems and how to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Balances ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Systems Engineering Design Lead Manager 2: The Systems Engineering Design Leader will focus on enhancing interoperability through open systems architecture (OSA), investigate pertinent design issues that cross major segment boundaries, coordinate the development and execution of the functional system design, and deliver results. This leader is responsible for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing corporate guidelines & general policies. Systems Engineering Manager responsibilities include: planning and program performance addressing cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system. This role will utilize tools within a traditional systems engineering toolkit (DOORS), Model-Based Engineering (CAMEO), and Agile/DevOps frameworks (Jira, Confluence). Functional Management tasks will average 20% and the remaining 80% will be technical, based on experience of the successful candidate and the program needs within the systems engineering design responsibility. - Minimum of a Bachelor’s of Science in STEM
- 7 years of related experience with Bachelor’s; 5 years with Master’s; 3 years with PhD
- Active DoD Secret clearance investigated within the last 5 years.
- 2 years of experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule
- Experience with Cameo
- Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) concepts
- Experience with SE requirements analysis, trade studies, SERD generation, design solutions, acquisition, test, and validation
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must be knowledgeable in Microsoft Office Suite - Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word
- Experience with development, integration, and/or test of weapon systems and military architectures, platforms, and force packages across multiple domains
- Experience briefing analysis models, methodologies and results to senior leadership
- Experience working in an Agile development environment
- Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SSBI, or Active DoD Top Secret with SCI
