Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will support our Manufacturing Process Engineering team and will be located in St. Augustine, Florida.

This role will support manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling. Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of aircraft parts and assemblies.

Other duties may include but are not limited to:

  • Adapting machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions. May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan.

  • Ensuring processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.

  • Working under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Work is reviewed upon completion for adequacy in meeting objectives.

  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex difficult problems. Solutions are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.

This is a dedicated role following the 3/12 Shift Structure. Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 12 hours a day.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Manufacturing Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 5 years manufacturing experience OR a Master’s Degree and 3 years experience; may consider an additional 9 years of professional experience in lieu of a Degree

  • Understanding of metallic fabrication (i.e. drilling, countersinking, repairs, and fastener installation, etc.)

  • Experience reviewing and interpreting Blueprints and/or 3-D models

  • Ability to interface with multiple levels of leadership, clients, and vendors

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to obtain Secret DoD clearance

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • STEM Degree (Science, Technical, Engineering or Mathematical)

  • Experience with process improvements, Developing Process Work instructions

  • Knowledge of Manufacturing Tools/Tooling

  • Experience working hands-on in a production assembly line environment 

  • Experience providing innovative techniques focused on improving product designs and tooling assemblies or equipment  

  • Current and active Secret or Top-Secret clearance

  • Experience with external suppliers, designing/modifying customer designs to meet end use purpose

  • Flight Line Operations Support experience

  • E-2D Air Vehicle Experience

  • Interactive Electronic Technical Manual System (IETMS) familiarity

  • Extensive MES knowledge

Salary Range: $79,700 USD - $119,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
