Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Engineering Manager to join our team in Salt Lake City, UT.

The Quality Engineering Manager monitors mission assurance program specifications and processes to ensure mission success of programs. Ensures quality, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements. Assesses program performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance and program success.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading the New Product Introduction effort in the Space and Defense sector, this individual will closely collaborate with the Program Office, the Customer and Suppliers to ensure all requirements are met the first time and every time in a sustainable fashion. Key competencies and experience include:
  • Ensures quality, process improvement, root cause and corrective action, risk management, safety, reliability and maintainability of program achievements, subcontractors, and suppliers in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Assess program and enterprise performance and risks, and determines resources to ensure mission assurance.
  • Provide guidance and direction to subordinates based on organizational goals and program needs.
  • Evaluate performance and facilitates growth in individuals as well as teams.
  • Utilize a broad understanding of program operations to lead multifunctional teams during root cause and corrective action investigations.
  • Participating in program planning and execution, to include the implementation of quality program plans tailored to the appropriate phase of the program, customer requirements and overall trends and/or risk profiles.

The selected candidate must be an inclusive and collaborative leader with the ability to influence others at all levels and have demonstrated leadership skills leading multi-function and technical working groups while directly contributing to program execution. The candidate must have a track record in mentoring and developing the skills of their teams, and driving change across organizations with successful, quantified business results. The candidate must be able to establish strong, collaborative, working relationships with suppliers, operating and business unit leaders, and customer quality representatives.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 5+ years minimum (or Master’s degree and 3+ years) of combined Quality Assurance, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and/or Program Management experience.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • AS9100, AS9102 and AS9103 expertise
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance. (US Citizenship required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in a related STEM field
  • Experience managing and/or leading teams or projects.
  • AS6500 and/or MIL-HBK-896 experience
  • APQP/PPAP familiarity
  • Pertinent Certification such as Lean/Six Sigma, CQE, CMQ/OE, CQA etc.
  • Defense, Space or Aerospace Manufacturing experience

Salary Range: $85,400 USD - $128,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
