Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking Principal or Sr. Principal Cyber Test Engineer/Cyber Systems Security professionals to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in San Antonio, TX.

The candidate filling this role requires a broad array of knowledge and skills within system security engineering, risk management framework, and security operations and demonstrate their ability to remain technically current with the state of cyber security threats and mitigations. The candidate may: conduct network or software vulnerability assessments and penetration testing utilizing, perform vulnerability analysis and exploitation, identify intrusion paths and methods, isolate, block or remove threat access,  evaluate system security configurations and perform root cause analysis, or contribute to the design, development and implementation of countermeasures, system integration, and tools.

Periodic travel to operational or development sites is anticipated to perform cybersecurity risk management activities. Candidates must be comfortable implementing cyber controls within IT systems, performing hands on verification and validation, and preparing and presenting technical reports and briefings.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support Risk Management Framework activities throughout all steps and stages
  • Perform system technical remediation to include remote distributed scanning, patching, and monitoring
  • Perform cyber testing, verification, and validation
  • Assess and mitigate system security threats and risks throughout the program life cycle
  • Validate system security requirements definition and analysis, establish system security designs, implement security designs in hardware, software, data, and procedures
  • Verify security requirements; perform system certification and accreditation planning and testing and liaison activities; support secure systems operations and maintenance

This position may be filled at a either the Principal or Senior Principal level based on the requirements below.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Principal Level: Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5 years of experience. Or, 3 years with a Master’s degree. An additional 4 years of experience is required in lieu of a degree.
  • Senior Principal Level: Bachelor’s degree in related field with 9 years of experience. Or, 7 years with a Master’s degree. An additional 4 years of experience is required in lieu of a degree.
  • US Citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD Top Secret security clearance is required.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain DoD 8570 Certification for IAT Level II or higher within six months

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a technical field
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance
  • Experience writing automation scripts (e.g. ansible, PowerShell, Python)
  • Experience performing vulnerability assessments or developing exploits
  • Current DoD 8570 Certification within IAT/IAM categories. Higher levels are most preferred
  • Prior experience performing cybersecurity automation
  • Prior experience supporting or leading an RMF accreditation process

Salary Range: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $108,600 USD - $163,000 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
