We are looking for you to join our team as an iReturn Technical- Embedded Software Engineer based out of San Diego, CA. As a iReturn Technical- Embedded Software Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. iReturn provides experienced professionals with a 12-week "returnship" to prepare for a full-time career in one of several fields at Northrop Grumman through training, professional development and networking opportunities. Our "returnship" program focuses on giving you a seamless transition back into the workforce and will run from September - December providing candidates with the essential skills and tools for an effective re-entry into the workforce. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for full-time roles with the company.

The qualified applicant will join an iReturn cohort of employees re-entering the workforce after a career break of at least two years. This cohort will receive special on-boarding designed to provide an effective re-entry into the workforce. iReturn provides experienced professionals with a 12-week "returnship" to prepare for a full-time career in one of several fields at Northrop Grumman through training, professional development and networking opportunities. Qualified applicants will join a cohort of employees returning to the workforce after a 2+ career break for this "returnship" program that focuses on giving you a seamless transition back into the workforce. This cohort program will approximately run from late January to early May and prepare candidates for an effective re-entry into the workforce. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for full-time roles with the company.

What you will get to do:

  • Designs, develops, operates and maintains software and firmware components and computing systems software to be applied to and integrated with engineering, scientific and manufacturing requirements
  • Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the system development life cycle to support the generation of such engineering applications and products such as laboratory simulation systems, aircraft and ground radios, electronic warfare jammers, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Interfaces with customers, suppliers, application users and other technical and support personnel.
  • This position will require onsite work however for this role we are able to offer flexible work arrangements and some remote work will be possible.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Career break of at least two years
  • 2 years relevant experience with BS in STEM discipline; 0 Years of relevant experience with a Masters in STEM discipline
  • Experience in developing embedded, real-time software using C/C++.
  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded applications
  • Ability to Obtain a D.O.D issued clearance, U.S. Citizenship is required. An Active clearance is not required prior to starting in this role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with tools such as Rhapsody, GreenHills MULTI Integrated Development Environment, DOORS and ClearCase/ClearQuest
  • Software Systems engineering, requirements analysis, system integration, system architecture
  • Tactical Data Links (Link 16, VMF, MADL).
  • Open Mission System (OMS) Architecture
  • Experience with GreenHills Integrity
  • Avionics Operating Systems
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • LabVIEW

Salary Range: $40 USD - $41 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
