Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.  Join our team of highly skilled and motivated engineers at Northrop Grumman's Aeronautics Systems located in San Diego, California.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Principal Network Architect that can insure end to end, data communication performance, system interoperability, and delivery that meets the need in accordance to the performance specification and network enterprise standards.  As a Network Architect, the expectation will be to assist senior members of the team in identifying and providing early risk reduction in the system design life cycle and will be responsible for defining the requirements in a high level design topology, as well as documenting the program wide network topology to allow end to end network communication.  Overall responsibilities includes bandwidth provisioning, traffic flow, IP allocation, network management, network hardware and software features such as QOS, routing protocols, and security. More detailed Roles and Responsibilities are below.Roles and Responsibilities:

• Sets the end to end network architecture design requirements by releasing network architect high level design documentation and creating universal IP database documents as needed
• Applies extensive technical expertise in all areas of network engineering as well as have full working knowledge of end device and how they interface with routers, firewalls, and switches
• Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems
• Develops technical solutions to ensure all communications requirements are based not only on current needs but the future roadmap which optimize cost savings 
• Exhibit the ability to work without appreciable direction and can exercise considerable latitude in determining networking objectives
• Guides the successful completion of networking objectives crucial to the program and may function in a technical leadership role periodically
• Represent the network organization as the prime technical contact on multiple networking tasks and or major networking projects
• Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations.  This includes but not limited to network design that include integrating with hardware and software organizations

The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with other engineers, network and system administrators, and computer/facility organizations. Multi-tasking with good communication skills; both verbal and written are a must.Basic Qualifications:

• 5 Years of Engineering experience with a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university OR 3 years of Engineering experience with a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline.
• Must have a current active in-scope DoD Top Secret security clearance or DoE Equivalent (Required to be considered)
• Must be able to obtain Program Access
• Ability to support up to 25% travel

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Cisco hardware
• Knowledge of classified network design is a plus
• Strong written and verbal communication skill
• Good project management skills
• Ability to work in fast paced environment
• Willingness to work after hours and weekends as required
• DoD 8570 training and certifications
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP
• Strong knowledge of LAN concepts such as VLANS, trunking (port tagging) and spanning-tree.
• Strong knowledge of WAN technologies such as OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3)
• IP addressing design and subnets
• Cisco and Security+ certification

Salary Range: $101,200 USD - $151,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
