Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer for the Triton Enterprise in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego CA at the Autonomous Design Center of Excellence.

The selected candidate will be responsible for coordination and collaboration with diverse engineering design teams to provide imaginative, technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems in establishing and managing the technical baseline in support of programmatic milestones. 

The selected candidate will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Essential Functions:

•    Assist with integration of capabilities contained within owned requirements
•    Interface with other IPTs to ensure capabilities owned are complete, ready for verification and that associated test procedures adequately test capability
•    Interface with NAVAIR Requirement Owners to complete verification process
•    Familiarity with development tools such as DOORS, Jazz, ClearQuest, Confluence, JIRA, and MS Office
•    Support development of integration plans and verification methods interpreting requirements, event traces, interface descriptions, schematics, and software design descriptions
•    Conduct formal integration and support capabilities-based system level testing of fully integrated complex software and hardware subsystems
•    Evaluate integration and test anomalies and lead investigations across functional teams as required in their adjudication
•    Interface design management between subsystems
•    Attend technical interchange meetings with program and customer personnel
•    Provide technical support across program functions demonstrating ownership of system design and mentorship for junior team members

•    Strong communication and leadership skills


Basic Qualifications: 
-     Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with no experience
-    Experience working with system/subsystem level requirements and database  
-    Integration lab testing and troubleshooting, documenting and correcting lab systems

Preferred Qualifications: 
-    Programming Skills in C/C++/Python
-    Familiarity with Systems Engineering and Design processes
-    Experience testing space/US military products 
-    Familiarity working with military specifications/standards
-    Familiarity with Agile design and integration processes
-    Ability to develop task specific test tools
-    Ability to command-line Windows/Linux
-    Demonstrated communication and technical writing skills
-    Proven ability to brief on highly technical topics


Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
