Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

Our work influences the investment decisions of our senior leadership and customer program offices. The Modeling and Simulation discipline draws from the skills and experience of many other (e.g. Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, etc.) and frequently collaborates across diverse and functional disciplines, offering a unique opportunity to obtain a broad understanding of many areas or to more narrowly focus on developing a deep expertise in any of the contributing fields.

In this role, you will work in collaborative small team environments to conduct research and analysis, develop models and scenarios, and perform analysis of a wide variety of system types across multiple domains (ground, air and space) to drive the development of clean-sheet requirements, refine existing program system requirements, and influence the pursuit of future technologies and capabilities. You will work with air vehicle and subsystem engineers, as well as with program and customer leadership, to analyze performance, recommend candidate designs, and to develop Concepts of Operation (CONOPs) and Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) at the system level.

The selected candidate with be responsible for studying, analyzing, and developing simulation frameworks as well as performance, threat, and control models.

Essential Functions:

•             Develop, integrate, and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.

•             Model operational environments, performs trade studies via computer simulation and recommend alternative architectures.

•             Performs operational and mission effectiveness analysis on a variety of systems.

•             Create and apply knowledge of TTPs to analyze blue/red kill chains across multiple security environments, programs, architectures, and platforms.

•             Perform mission engineering activities to ensure continuity between desired operational capabilities and delivered system performance, through the Systems Engineering “V”. Ensure performance capabilities of new systems and architectures are traded against cost and mission requirements; assess operational effectiveness of existing and emerging systems and capabilities in representative operational environments.

•             Solicit input from various stakeholders, synthesize data, and communicate results to various levels of leadership within the organization.

•             Develop software and analytical tools to model behavior of systems in real-time and constructive simulations.

Basic Qualifications Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation:

•            An active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Secret security clearance or higher is required to start.

•            Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with Special Program Access (PAR/SAP).

•            Bachelor’s degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and:

•            2 years of related engineering experience, or 0 years of experience with a master’s degree.

•            Experience in at least one of the following areas:

•            Air vehicle performance analysis

•            Air vehicle and/or system survivability analysis

•            Analysis at the Survivability, Lethality, Vulnerability, Engagement, and/or Mission Level

•            Research, Analysis, and Creating Assessments of Foreign Threats to US Military Operations

•            Modeling and Simulation of Radars, Missiles, Integrated Air Defense Systems (IADS), Air and/or Space platforms

•            Electronic Attack (EA), Electronic Protection (EP), Electronic Countermeasures

•            Red and/or Blue CONOPs and TTPs

Preferred Qualifications:

•             Data Analysis or Coding Experience using MATLAB, C++, Python or similar.

•             Effective project management skills.

•             Excellent communications skills, including the ability to present and brief technical data to all levels of leadership within the organization and U.S. Government.

•             Operational military background or experience.

•             Experience with version control tools (Bitbucket, GitHub, Gitlab, etc.).

•             Strong interpersonal and leadership skills to include project/analysis lead experience.

•             A current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance with current or previous Special Program Access (SAP)/SCI.

Salary Range: $82,400 USD - $123,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
