The Networked Information Solutions (NIS) Division of Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Principal Reliability Engineer (DMSMS) based out of San Diego, CA. This position will be within the JAD-G OU, reporting to the Systems Engineering Manager.

Job Description:

As the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) Principal Reliability Engineer, you will be the Point-of-Contact (POC) for Battlefield Airborne Communication Node (BACN) end-of-life (EOL) notifications and issues and will assist in activities to ensure a solution is in place before sustainment is impacted. This is a new role to the organization and we are seeking a candidate who can help implement improvements to current process.

Additional Job Roles Include:

  • Providing technical Obsolescence/ DMSMS support through DMSMS identification, tracking, and analysis.

  • Conducting DMSMS predictions, performing and updating platform / program impact sparing analysis and evaluating / coordinating last time buys.

  • Interfacing and presenting status and impacts to Logistics, Engineering and Program Management.

  • Preparation and support for internal working group meetings and customer meetings.

  • Assisting in developing processes and procedures to support and sustain systems and equipment.

  • Providing support with component / supplier selection, analysis, and documentation to meet technical requirements posed by design teams during concept and development for both Electrical and Mechanical parts.

  • Must have excellent communication, documentation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with specific emphasis on attention to detail

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Reliability Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 5 years of related experience; Masters and at least 3 years of experience; may be willing to consider additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Basic Qualifications for Sr. Principal Reliability Engineer:

  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 9 years of related experience; Masters and at least 7 years of experience; may be willing to consider additional 4 years of experience in lieu of degree.

Basic Qualifications for Principal and Sr. Principal Reliability Engineer:

  • Demonstrated experience within the field of obsolescence management, end of life and/or DMSMS identification, tracking, and analysis.

  • Proficient in MS Office programs (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Access and Outlook).

  • Current active DoD Secret Clearance (or higher level).

Preferred Qualifications Principal and Sr. Principal Reliability Engineer:

  • Experience with Engineering drawings, technical specifications, schematics.

  • Demonstrated experience with Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability.

  • Demonstrated experience with product support/logistics acquisition life cycle processes.

  • Previous experience supporting a government or DOD customer.

  • Excellent analytical ability, researching skills, and capacity for planning ahead.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and to switch between tasks quickly


Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
