In this role you will be a Software Engineer responsible for implementing DevOps systems and methodologies for our programs in development. 

Essential Functions:

  • Leverages experience with DevOps methodologies to conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with equipment designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for product and commercial software.
  • Designs, develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions.
  • Overseeing and participating in the development of the architecture and software for distributed services and user interfaces running in a multi-language, multi-OS, virtualized enterprise
  • Involved in the evolution of the current design to advance the enterprise into a cloud-enabled architecture (e.g. containerization)
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams, such as Systems Engineering, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test in an Agile software development environment

This role may be filled as a Principal Software Engineer – DevOps or a Sr. Principal Software Engineer – DevOps.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Software Engineer - DevOps:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 5 years of experience; or 3 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 0 years with a PhD;
    - An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with Agile software development, software integration and testing
  • Object-oriented programming using C, C++, Python  and/or Java
  • Comfortable with Linux OS
  • Experience with specifying and building Docker images
  • Experience with running software on a container engine (Docker, Podman, Containerd)
  • Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes (preparing manifests, networking, etc.)
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a clearance after starting

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in science, engineering, or related discipline with 9 years of experience; or 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters (MS) degree; or 4 years with a PhD;
    - An additional 4 years of relevant experience/education can be considered in lieu of a Bachelors Degree
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Experience with Agile software development, software integration and testing
  • Object-oriented programming using C, C++, Python  and/or Java
  • Comfortable with Linux OS
  • Experience with specifying and building Docker images
  • Experience with running software on a container engine (Docker, Podman, Containerd)
  • Experience with container orchestration using Kubernetes (preparing manifests, networking, etc.)
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to obtain a clearance after starting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using container engines or container orchestration software in an embedded environment
  • Familiarity with software-defined radios
  • Experience with DevOps tools and practices (Jenkins, Nexus, Atlassian tools, git, JIRA, Bitbucket, Crucible)
  • Experience with K3s
  • Experience with Service Meshes
  • Familiar with Cloud computing technologies
  • Automated deployment leveraging ansible
  • Active Security Clearance

Salary Range: $101,400 USD - $152,200 USD
Salary Range 2: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
