Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Communications/Networks Electronics Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.

  • Essential Functions:
    • Lead the a team of 10 or more through integration to meet program milestones
    • Lead the planning, designing, configuring, installing and troubleshooting network and communications infrastructure
    • Clearly and effectively discuss technical low-level details with engineers and provide high level impact statements and recommendations to senior management.  
    • Document issues,  justify and recommend solutions related to communications systems and network technical challenges. 
    • Provide ongoing mentorship to junior engineers.
    • Travel up to 25%

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 9 years’ experience with bachelor’s degree, 7 years with MS, or 5 years with PHD
  • Extensive experience working with RF Communications Systems (CDL, UHF LOS, SATCOM, tactical voice, and Link 16)
  • Experience working with IP networking topologies, quality of service implementation, network encryption methods (AES and Type 1), and routing hardware appliances
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance or DoE equivalent

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Electrical Engineering with Computer Systems Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline
  • Active Top-Secret clearance
  • Experience Leading Teams of 10 or more through integration to meet program milestones
  • Experience as a subcontracts/supplier lead
  • Experience in end to end communications architectures (including the radios and their connection points or next hop points (satellites, ground entry, etc.))
  • Experience planning, designing, configuring, installing and troubleshooting network infrastructure and associated systems, to include routers, switches and firewalls, in support of customer requirements.
  • Experience in LAN/WAN technologies such as VLANs, Trunking (port tagging), Spanning-Tree, OSPF, DMVPN and Port Security.
  • Experience in red/black separation between classification environments and methods to employ those separations.
  • Knowledge of the operational employment of UAS communications links and capabilities
  • Experience handling COMSEC material

Salary Range: $125,800 USD - $188,600 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
