We are looking for you to join our team as a Systems Test Engineer based out of San Diego, CA. As a Systems Test Engineer at Northrop Grumman you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation. What You will get to Do:

We are seeking a motivated Systems Test Engineer to join the Communications Solutions Business Unit with in our San Diego Mission Systems organization.

You will be responsible for planning and executing testing activities on a DoD Classified program. You will have the chance to work on one of our exciting programs. Here you will have the opportunity to solve complex problems and implement technology that is currently emerging in the Tactical Communications industry.

This position will require on-site work.

Roles & Responsibilities include but aren’t limited to:

  • Responsible for the development and execution of test plans and software test cases to verify subsystem functional requirements.

  • Manages short and long-term test planning and execution of multiple baselines.

  • Assist with coordination of supporting organizations in executing and planning a test program, including our internal and external customers.

  • Provide support for post-test data processing and analysis as required to support test objectives.

  • Prepare detailed test reports and present to leadership and customers.

  • Acts as a key stakeholder of the program's test requirements.

  • Participating in technical exchange meetings, interfacing with customers, and contributing to a broad range of program deliverables.

  • Thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, minimal supervision, and collaborative/team settings across all levels

  • Work closely with engineers and technicians in a lab environment

  • Occasional travel may be required

Basic Qualifications Principal Systems Test:

Bachelor's Degree in a STEM Discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) from an accredited University/College and 5 years of engineering related experience, or a Master's in STEM and 3 years of related experience, or a PhD in STEM and 0 years of related experience; 4 years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Basic Qualifications Sr. Principal Systems Test:

Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience; 4 years of additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Basic Qualifications for Principal and Sr. Principal Systems Test:

  • Experience working System Test, SW Development and/or Systems Engineering

  • Experience integrating hardware and software in a lab environment

  • Active DoD Secret Clearance within the last 5 years

  • Must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, a Special Access Programs (SAP/SAR) level clearance as a condition of continued employment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with IBM Rational tool suite (DOORS and ClearQuest)

  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (JIRA, Git, Confluence)

  • Experience using software test automation tools/frameworks

  • Experience with EVMS (CAM)

  • Knowledge of tactical datalinks and interoperability testing

  • Knowledge of Communications waveforms

  • Familiarity in the Risk Management Framework (RMF)


Salary Range: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD
Salary Range 2: $114,300 USD - $171,500 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
