Job Description / SOW:

Under Aeronautics Systems Engineering, the Digital Strategy & Analytics Team (DSA) is responsible for developing innovative software solutions to support our Program and Sector customers. From Manufacturing Engineering applications driven by Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to Analytics that drive Program Leadership decisions, our team of over 90 data professionals provide critical automation that enables our Engineering Teams to deliver world-class capabilities in manned and unmanned air systems.

We are currently seeking a Data Management Analyst / Principal Data Management Analyst / Sr Data Management Analyst to join our San Diego-based team of data and analytics experts who support the Air Vehicle Engineering Integrated Product Team (AV IPT).  The AV IPT is responsible for the design, development, manufacturing, testing and maintenance of the unmanned high altitude air vehicle commonly known as the Global Hawk. 

This individual will serve as a critical member of the engineering estimating activities by coordinating the compilation of inputs from multiple engineering disciplines to produce required narrative that explains, in laymen’s terms, what type of engineering effort will be required.  In addition, this individual will collect, investigate and analyze work load indicators that will justify the labor hour estimates. These estimates will be used to assist the engineering leads in forecasting their staffing requirements for existing contracts.  In addition, this role will support labor estimates required by programs for future contracts.

This role requires skills in relating and reporting data from various sources i.e.  MES, SAP, Teamcenter, eQube, SQL Server. The position requires direct interfacing with IPT leads, Program Managers, various engineering, technical and business team members as well as customers across various programs. 

This role requires high attention to detail and the ability to deliver on-time. Due to the dynamic nature of our proposal statement of work, this individual should work well in an environment with fast-paced deadlines and able to manage multiple priorities.  This role offers growth opportunity for those interested in pursuing either technical career paths in data science and analytics or managerial paths for project / program management.   This position will be primarily performed at our San Diego Center of Excellence although other locations / remote work may be considered.  This is an individual contributor, non-manager, role with no direct reports. However, this position, may be a lead role with certain assigned projects.

Responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to):

  • Compile labor cost estimates for various disciplines under the Vehicle Engineering (VE) scope of work with a general understanding of the type of work for each specific disciplines
  • Follow the engineering estimate checklists to ensure quality deliverables are provided to the (VE) leads and to the Program
  • Compile historical data to develop work load indicators that can be used to forecast engineering labor estimates.
  • Map out processes and create knowledge management repositories for sharing, coordinating and facilitating closure of actions. 
  • Analyzes customer problems and investigates data available for analysis to provide recommendations
  • Prepares dashboards and reports that add value to the business process.
  • Manage various data files in applicable formats and condition the data for analytics
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between IPT members and proposal management
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives

Basic Qualifications: Data Management Analyst

  • Bachelor's Degree with 3 years of experience and/or Master's Degree with 1 year of experience or equivalent experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office tool suite (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math is preferred
  • Aerospace and/or Defense Industry Experience
  • Project Management certification (Agile or PMI)
  • Experience with Integrated Product Team (IPT) execution, Program execution, proposals
  • Knowledge of Project Management principles and Agile methodology
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools (i.e. Atlassian product suite)
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management System

Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
