Manufacturing Technician 1 (2nd shift) Space Components

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Division designs, manufactures and operates small and medium-class spacecraft for communications, imaging, scientific, exploration and national security space applications. The Group is leading supplier of space components that power and enable satellites of all classes, provides technical engineering services to government agencies and laboratories, and is developing exciting new satellite servicing and advanced space flight technologies.

Our San Diego, CA location is seeking a Manufacturing Technician 1 to join our team. The Manufacturing Technician 1 position performs functions associated with all manufacturing operations in layup and panel fabrication.

Successful candidates will work 2nd Shift (1:00pm – 10:30pm)

Primary Responsibilities:

• Handling and managing fragile composite materials

• Prep, lay-up and bonding of composite products.

• Experience with layup of uni-directional and weave pre-pregs

• May report status/progress and interface with other employees and departments.

• Tooling preparation and release application.

• Utilize measurement tools such as calipers, rulers, and tape measures for fabricating hardware.

• Assist in maintaining overall shop appearance and cleanliness.

• Execute to written instructions.

Basic Qualifications:

• A high school diploma and 0 - 2 years' of manufacturing experience may be considered in lieu of an Associate's degree or Technical degree.

• US Citizenship required

• Ability to work 2nd shift on a long term basis

Preferred Qualifications:

• Associate's degree or 2 year Technical degree and 3 years' minimum experience in a manufacturing environment.

Salary Range: $37,950 USD - $63,250 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
