The ideal candidate manages a segment of a program or a function. They are responsible for the direct supervision/management of the staff and for providing objective-oriented direction to subordinates utilizing guidelines & general policies.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ relevant work experience.  3 years with a Master’s, 8 years’ experience in lieu of degree

  • 1-3 years of work experience Managing/ Leading people and/or projects within Manufacturing

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance (US citizenship is required)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business/ Leadership

  • Experience with MRP/ERP tools applied in a manufacturing environment

  • Possesses and active Secret Clearance

  • Experience in electronics manufacturing a plus

Program Manager responsibilities include:

Planning performance addressing: cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality of a work package, subsystem, or related group of work packages on a large system development-type contract or full responsibility for all aspects of program performance on a large delivery order or mid-size technical services-type contract. Guidance Given, Assignments Received Assignments are received in objective oriented terms.

Provide direction to subordinates based on general policies and management guidance. Work is reviewed for adequacy in meeting objectives.

Knowledge and Technical Skills Competence is required in a specialized or technological field. Full working knowledge of procedures and practices. Decision Making Relates more to specific job function. Risk to the Corporation is minimal.

Makes decisions that support accomplishment of discipline objective.

Becomes involved only when required to assist in meeting schedules or to resolve technical or operational problems. May accomplish results through lower level supervisor or exempt employees. Policy Involvement Executes department procedures that typically affect individual employees within own department. Policy management: Interprets and executes policies and procedures that typically affect subordinate organizational units.

Recommends modifications to operating policies. Financial Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget.

Operations Involvement / Direct Work Involvement: Functions as an advisor to unit regarding tasks, projects, and operations. Becomes actively involved in daily operations only when required to meet schedules or to resolve complex problems. Impact Ensures that projects are completed on schedule and within budget. Erroneous decisions or recommendations or failure to complete assignments would normally result in serious delays to assigned projects resulting in considerable expenditure of additional time, human resources and funds.

Liaison Frequent contacts with internal personnel and outside customer representatives at various management levels concerning operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts. Conducts briefings and participates in technical meetings for internal external representatives concerning specifics operations.


Salary Range: $107,800 USD - $161,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
