Enjoy a diverse, collaborative environment with professionals across the nation ready to help launch your career.   Researches, designs, develops, and tests a variety of electronic equipment and systems, including radar and radiation detection equipment; radio, television and other communications equipment and systems; circuitry components; analog and digital computers; and control and test equipment. Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a highly qualified, mission oriented individual to lead a team of Mechanical, Electronics and Electro-mechanical engineers located in San Diego, CA with responsibilities including (but not limited to) the following:
  • Lead a section of electronics, electrical and mechanical engineers (15-20 personnel)
  • Oversee electronics & payloads subsystems engineering project execution for autonomous systems programs
  • Instruct, mentor and champion agile concepts and processes
  • Partner with technical and functional management to develop an approach that satisfies the staffing needs between programs
  • Build an avionics engineering culture that empowers employees, establishes personal and team accountability, motivates team performance, encourages development, and supports innovation
  • Timecard approval, employee performance evaluations, facilitating employee growth, and special assignments in support of the functional homeroom
  • Ensure personnel and hardware safety, driving compliance with policies and procedures including security, property management, training, configuration control, and test conduct

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university
  • 7 years of combined technical and management experience
  • Experience leading an engineering team or project
  • Experience with avionics development and integration
  • Experience with avionics qualification and airworthiness certification
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance
  • OEM avionics development and/or integration & test experience
  • Agile expertise, to include scrum master and sprint planning
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Prior Functional Management Experience
  • Significant Engineering Management Experience
  • Ability and desire to provide ongoing coaching and performance feedback to direct reports
  • Extensive knowledge of electronics and payloads subsystems
