The Environmental, Safety, Health & Medical department is looking for an experienced Environmental, Health and Safety Engineer.   The employee will conduct the following systems at the San Diego site and 2 remote sites located in Moss Point, Mississippi, and New Town, North Dakota:
  • Identifies hazardous workplace conditions and takes preliminary samples and measurements of hazardous forces and toxic substances, removes hazards and/or protects employees by guarding, revising work procedures, and training or requiring use of protective clothing and personal protective equipment.
  • Takes effective steps to ensure that workplace conditions comply with applicable federal and state occupational safety and health standard provisions of any labor agreement, ensuring that all required records are prepared and maintained.
  • Participates in Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) inspections and in any procedures that may follow a citation. Investigates, prepares, and forwards as required reports on injuries and incidents.
  • Supports continual improvement initiatives and goals as part of the ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 Environmental, Health and Safety Management systems. 
  • Supports requirements to maintain OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) participation at the San Diego and New Town sites.
  • Conduct internal audits, prepare sites for external audits, and support sites during external audits.
  • Maintain and track EHS training requirements for NGC personnel.

The position is based out of San Diego, California, reporting to the site EHS Manager.  Some travel will be required to sites located in Mississippi and North Dakota in support of the management systems program (1-2 visits per year).    If your are someone that has experience with EHS management systems, excellent writing and communication skills, works hard, and would like to join a fun and exciting team then we would love to have you onboard! 


 Basic Qualifications:   
  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related STEM degree and 2 years additional engineering experience or a Master's degree in EHS and 0 years experience
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience with EPA requirements (CCR Title 22)
  • Experience with hazardous waste requirements (RCRA and USDOT)
  • Experience with OSHA requirements
  • HAZWOPER Training
  • Experience supporting ISO 14001/45001 EHS management systems
  • Experience supporting VPP requirements
