Northrop Grumman Autonomous Systems Division has an opening for a Principal Data Scientist to join the Prognostics and Health Management Analytics team. This position will be located in Rancho Bernardo, CA.   The selected candidate will be joining a team of creative and motivated individuals who are working on research oriented health management projects. The selected candidate will be expected to balance their time between researching cutting edge analytics, working with a variety of subject matter experts, implementing machine learning, statistical models, producing analytics and advocating the business use cases.   Primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Leverage data mining / analysis and machine learning to expand suite of data analysis products aimed at uncovering trends and predictive modeling in large datasets
  • Champion the data science bridge between subject matter engineering experts and business partners
  • Stitch together diverse data sources
  • Create dynamic data visualizations
  • Tell stories that describe insights and analytical findings both to engineers and to business partners

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field with at least 5 years of experience; Master's degree and at least  3 years of experience; 0 with a PhD and focus in statistics preferred.
  • Working knowledge in statistics, machine learning, and modeling algorithms.
  • Working knowledge with deep learning models via PyTorch or Tensorflow
  • Working knowledge with using Pandas, Numpy, and scikit-learn libraries
  • Strong data visualizations skills
  • Experience with Python, or other scripting language
  • Experience with SQL, ETL, and databases.
  • Experience collaborating on projects with multiple teams, managing relationships, and communicating findings to audiences.
  • U.S citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain active DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of:
    • Tableau
    • C#/java
  • Working knowledge of Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) and Prognostics Health Management (PHM) data
  • Agile experience
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
