The Tactical Space Systems Division Manufacturing organization has an opening for S. Principal Manufacturing Operation Project Analyst (OPM) position in Dulles, VA to support the Space Systems Division. The Operational Project Manager/ Analysts are the interface between the Business Unit and Manufacturing.

OPM’s work closely with the Manufacturing Work Centers and Program Management. This position is responsible for schedule management and cost accountability of Manufacturing activities for their respective Business Unit.  OPM’s determine the most practical and cost-efficient methods to obtain the optimal program execution. 

Successful OPM candidate’s must possess excellent communication skills - both verbal and written; strong interpersonal skills; a good problem solving mindset; and the ability to present program visibility at internal/external meetings to include all levels of management including executive level. This is not a Manager role. This is an individual contributor role.  

Responsibilities Include:

  • Engage early and collaborate with the Program Management and functional organizations (from individual contributors to executive staff) to obtain, understand, and interpret manufacturing facilitation and scheduling requirements.

  • Develop Bid and Proposals for perspective Programs.  Successful OPM will use a data-informed approach to problem solving and analysis with experience pulling and visualizing applicable datasets from complex underlying data structures.

  • Own performance of Programs as they progress into Launch and Manufacturing phases by performing Manufacturing Readiness reviews (MRR) and using earned Value (EV) techniques. 

  • Managing and maintaining the day-to-day interfaces and communications between the assigned Program Management Office (PMO) and the Functional areas:  Manufacturing, Test, Mission Assurance (MA), Supply Chain (SCM), Engineering, and Shipping.

  • Perform the Cost Account Manager (CAM) role.  Define, implement, and monitor Cost and Performance metrics.  Measure manufacturing work center performance of deliverables per the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).

  • Own driving Risk and Issue mitigation. Communicate with Program Office plan to restore Program health.

  • Partner with Manufacturing Team to develop work center efficiencies and drive root cause corrective actions to issues. Facilitate internal meetings to support design, production, and problem resolutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and willingness to pivot as needed


Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree and 10 years of relevant work experience or 8 years of relevant work experience with a Master's degree

  • Must be a US citizen

  • Possess a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate

  • 4 years or more Cost Account Manager (CAM), Integrated Product Team Lead (IPT), Program Manager/ Leader

  • 8 years or more of leading complex, technical, Projects and/ or Programs.

  • Success in early engagement with Program personnel resulting in achieving in month over month Cost and Schedule targets

  • Experience working in Manufacturing, Engineering, Test, Production, Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering

  • The candidate must have experience in leadership and project management and working with cross organizational teams and customers

  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system like: SAP, Solumina, Costpoint, or other

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active security clearance or ability to obtain one

  • Demonstrated expertise in the following systems and concepts

  • Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) and Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) experience

  • Working knowledge of and Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems:

    • Deltek Costpoint

    • Synchrono, Synchview, Tableau

    • Windchill, TipQA, Cognos

    • Earned Value Management (EV)

    • Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma

    • Excellent presentation and communication skills

    • Program execution experience

Salary Range: $103,900 USD - $155,900 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
