Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is seeking a Principal Joint Training Technical Analyst to join our growing team of diverse professionals in Suffolk, Virginia.  The selected candidate will join our Joint Staff J7 Team with a focus on coordinating all technical requirements supporting Joint Training Exercises.

The Technical Analyst supports a unique Joint Staff capability supporting the installation, integration, testing, evaluation, and synchronization of simulations and gaming tools used in future immersive training capabilities for Joint Training Exercises and Experiments.  As a member of the Joint Staff J7 team, the selected candidate will be responsible for coordinating all technical requirements, communication, computers, phones, models, and simulation systems supporting all JS J7 training events.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates all technical requirements and manning for training events

  • Based on requirements, builds out floor plans which include all computers and phones to support the events

  • Acts as a requirements articulator as well as a technical planner, the coordinator manages the expectation of the government customer while also defining support architectures and personnel needs to the division branches

  • Creates manpower projections to determine tech level of effort based on exercise requirements and Joint Event Life Cycle (JELC) events

  • Establishes and publishes new exercise JELC event dates to establish the knowledge baseline for all techs

  • Research the various authoritative scheduling documents to determine basic timelines

  • Provides input to the information presented at technical In-Process Reviews (IPRs) and After-Action Review (AAR)

  • Attends all exercise related IPRs and AARs

  • Provides input to various exercise manning documents for all techs positions to include gathering names.

Basic Qualifications:

  • One of the following:

    • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, and/or Mathematics (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years of experience in information systems or a related field

    • Master’s degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 3 years of experience in information systems or a related field

  • Active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance

  • Ability to travel as needed (up to 25% of the time)

  • Ability to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia

  • Knowledge of the military training process

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Outstanding communication skills

  • Knowledge of the JELC

  • Prior active duty military service

  • Active DoD Top Secret / Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance


Salary Range: $83,800 USD - $125,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
