Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Business Management Manager 1 for the Marine Systems Business Unit. This position will be located in Sunnyvale, CA with a hybrid work arrangement as business needs dictate. Relocation is available.

***$10K Sign on Bonus payable to new external hires only. Internals are not eligible***

The Manager will partner with the Business Unit Program Office to manage financial aspects to achieve the Business Unit’s financial and strategic objectives.  Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinate and lead business management functions including but not limited to financial forecasting, Earned Value Management, monthly reporting, etc.
  • Lead indirect budget forecast, management, and variance analysis
  • Provide direct management for a team of Business Management analysts.
  • Provide financial business analysis and reporting with the ability to clearly communicate with senior management as it relates to financial program status and analyses.
  • Develop business strategy and forecasting, through internal or external deliverables such as the Long Range Strategic Plan and the Annual Operating Plan.
  • Oversee key line forecasting, work authorization, implementation of EV reporting, program budgeting, estimate at complete development, and various financial reporting activities.
  • Coordinate cost and schedule analyses and preparation of reports to ensure contracts are within negotiated and agreed-upon cost and schedule parameters and government cost control guidelines.
  • Manage risks with multiple contract types from both an execution and financial perspective.
  • Develop professional and management talent within the Business Unit.

The successful candidate must have a proven track record in leading a diverse team as well as the ability to promote the professional development of the business management workforce, fostering a collaborative culture that sustains the momentum around ethics and integrity, employee engagement, affordability, innovation, value growth and continuous improvement.

The candidate will maintain the highest level of commitment to quality, compliance and internal controls in adherence to company values and ethics.  The position requires some travel to customer and other off-site locations.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 9 years of related job experience - OR - a Masters degree with 7 years of related job experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and develop talent
  • Experience developing business strategy and long range forecasting
  • Experience with program proposals, cost and schedule control, program budgeting and forecasting
  • Expertise with Microsoft Excel and business planning systems
  • The willingness and ability to travel domestically 10% of the time.
  • The willingness to obtain and maintain a US Secret level security clearance is required.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business related discipline
  • Experience with forecasting deliverables such a Long Range Strategic Plan or Annual Operating Plan
  • Experience with DoD and/or International Programs
  • Experience in the development of detailed business case analysis and return on investment analysis
  • Familiarity with the risk management process and the development of S-Curve modeling

Salary Range: $122,200 USD - $183,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
