Northrop Grumman Marine systems is seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to participate in the development and ongoing support of new and existing steam turbine designs used in surface ship and submarine propulsion and power generation systems for the US Navy.

Must be able to apply engineering principles and industry practice in the design of assigned turbine components and subsystems. Must be able to develop design concepts, perform trade studies, and conduct supporting evaluations and analyses. Will participate in detail design, drawing development, design reviews, release for manufacture, and follow through test and production phases. Will prepare and present formal technical briefings as required.

Basic Qualifications:

Engineer Mechanical

A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 2 (two) years experience is required.

Must have experience in large rotating machinery and/or turbo machinery design.
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in an interactive group environment.
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD secret security clearance.

Principal Engineer Mechanical

A Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 5 (five) years experience is required.

Must have experience in large rotating machinery and/or turbo machinery design.
Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work in an interactive group environment.
Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain a DOD secret security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with steam turbine and component design.


Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD
Salary Range 2: $92,200 USD - $138,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
