Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Manufacturing Engineer based out of Sunnyvale, CA. You will support the manufacturing of the Launcher System working on various manufacturing processes for Launcher assemblies, and welded fabrications. These processes include precision manual assembly, welding, bonding, finishing, and mechanical assembly.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Develop new processes, improve existing manufacturing processes, and develop the required tooling and fixtures with an excellent team of experienced assembly mechanics, machinists, welders, and engineers.
  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and systems to reduce cost, improve sustainability and develop best practices within the manufacturing environment.
  • Develop efficient process flows and sequences of operations, optimize production area layouts, manage bills of materials, and create detailed work instructions, process procedures, and tooling requirements with an emphasis on safety, foreign object elimination, and equipment/system maintenance.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and implementation of new capital equipment for establishing expanded production processes.
  • The ability to support multiple production shifts is required (first, second, and weekends) based on the assignment and current and future production schedules.

This position can be filled at the level of Manufacturing Engineer.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology Engineering, or Math) with 2+ years of relevant work experience; Master's Degree in a STEM discipline with 0 years of experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Exposure or specialization in any or all of the following: mechanical assembly processes, welding, and machining.
  • Experience in new product introduction.
  • Experience in continuous improvement.
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Experience in technical writing.
  • Ability to obtain Secret Clearance which requires US Citizenship.

Preferred Qualifications:

•            Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field from an accredited university

•            Experience with heavy fabrication, bonded structures, and assemblies

•            Experience with mPLM, SAP, Manufacturing Execution System, and GD&T

•            Experience with applying Lean Six Sigma principles on low volume, high mix processes.


Salary Range: $74,900 USD - $112,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
