The qualified applicant will join a cohort of employees re-entering the workforce after a career break of at least two years. This cohort will receive special on-boarding designed to provide an effective re-entry into the workforce. iReturn provides experienced professionals with a 12-week "returnship" to prepare for a full-time career in one of several fields at Northrop Grumman through training, professional development and networking opportunities. Qualified applicants will join a cohort of employees returning to the workforce after a 2+ career break for this "returnship" program that focuses on giving you a seamless transition back into the workforce. Upon completion of the program, candidates will be eligible for full-time roles with the company.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an iReturn Quality Engineering Manager  to lead mission assurance, quality engineering, and product assurance at our Sykesville, MD campus.

The manager should be knowledgeable of military quality and mission excellence processes and requirements. As a key leader, partner and essential member of the Quality & Mission Excellence team, the Manager  will lead a high performing team of quality engineers and quality analysts personnel to support company operations and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction.

Role and Responsibilities:

• Provides overall management of the Quality & Mission Excellence department by setting and operating to objectives, and providing guidance to direct reports based on goals, objectives, and company policy

• Collaborates with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Performance Management/Supplier Quality and Global Supply Chain to ensure quality is inherent in every requirement, design, work product, and end-product delivered by Northrop Grumman

• Engages on the shop floor and in work activities to provide direct support as needed while additionally coaching and mentoring facility personnel in quality methods and procedures

• Establishes and manages performance metrics to facilitate continuous improvement activities

• Establishes and maintains compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) policies, procedures, and processes to ensure the performance and quality of products conform to established standards, specifications and customer requirements

• Participates in root cause and corrective action analyses (RCCA) and failure investigations for high impact issues and teaches/coaches/mentors personnel in use of RCCA for lower level issues

• Leads efforts to identify and mitigate quality and performance risks using advanced product quality planning (APQP) methods, FMEAs, and early design and supplier engagement

• Ensures compliance through establishment and execution of internal surveillances and audits

• Provides performance reviews and periodic feedback for all direct reports

• Develops and operates within departmental budgets for indirect costs and overhead

• Manages program budgets, schedules, program EACs and performance using Earned Value Management for the quality scope on programs

Basic Qualifications:

• A career break of at least two years

• If required, Bachelors' degree and minimum 5 years of experience or Masters with minimum 3 years of experience (or whatever number of years of experience required for the appropriate level the target will be at the end of the returnship).

Salary Range: $75,100 USD - $75,100 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
