Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Quality Assurance Lead to join our team in Sykesville, MD.


Responsibilities will be:

  • Assist in coordinating inspection priorities daily. 
  • Attend daily standups with multi-disciplinary teams across all levels of operations.  
  • Assist in training/mentoring of inspectors and assisting shop floor operators as needed. 
  • Complete special assignment inspections requested by Quality engineering/Quality Analysts. 
  • Evaluate in-process and completed sub-assemblies and systems and identify defects in accordance with governing documentation.
  • Perform inspections using tooling and check-off lists for the complete inspection of sub-assemblies and systems. 
  • Interface with manufacturing operations and engineering personnel to improve processes and documentation issues.
  • Conduct inspections of complex components to determine, from visual and dimensional checks, piece/part conditions that contribute to, or cause, defects.
  • Perform in-process, sampling, First Article Inspections, and final inspection on a variety of complete electromechanical LRUs and systems. Visually inspect for appropriate electrical assembly specifications and standards.
  • Review metrics, procedures, and techniques used to inspect materials, parts, units, and/or systems that improperly passed inspection, in order to make necessary corrections to prevent recurrence.
  • Perform ISO Audits as required by audit coordinator after receiving certification.
  • Customer and government (DCMA) interface are required for in-process inspections through final inspections as well as contract end item submittals and final pack and shipping process.
  • Perform as a Quality Process Control Aide in an AS-9100 process-oriented organization.

Basic Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6+ years additional education and/or related experience.
  • SAP experience.
  • Quality inspection and electromechanical assembly experience.
  • Drawing review experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Confidential clearance. U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • AS 9100/ISO 9001 knowledge 
  • Experience interfacing with DoD customers
  • Active Department of Defense (DoD) Confidential clearance.
  • Proven experience working independently
  • An effective communicator with experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams across all levels of operations
  • Customer and DCMA interface 
  • Experience with Internal auditing

Salary Range: $48,204 USD - $117,296 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
