The engineering department at Northrop Grumman Maritime Systems is seeking a candidate who is excited by the prospect of leading a team of engineers at our Sykesville, MD location. As a member of our collaborative management team, you will join us in supporting, advocating for, and growing a dedicated and extremely talented group of professionals as we accomplish phenomenal work together.
Typical responsibilities for this role include staff alignment to program opportunities, workforce forecasting, employee engagement and development, engineering technical leadership, continuous process reviews and improvement, strategic planning, hiring, and providing employee feedback.
The successful candidate will be well-versed in the systems and/or hardware engineering disciplines and have a keen interest in working in the power and control systems domain.
Basic Qualifications:
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to collaborate with program management and other engineering disciplines to achieve results
• A profound understanding of engineering processes, with the ability to review and implement changes that increase operational efficiency and quality
• BS in engineering, computer science, or related field with 9 years’ experience. Lesser experience will be considered with advanced degrees
• US citizen, and the ability to obtain a Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications: • Experience leading and motivating teams • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: - Power and/or Controls Systems Design for Maritime / Aerospace
- Engineering strategy development that encompasses multiple programs and product areas • A current DOD Secret clearance In addition: For the systems engineering manager position:
- Systems architecture, modeling, simulation, or analysis experience, including use of associated toolsets such as DOORS, MATLAB, Rhapsody, ARM, etc.
- Requirements for the design of navy ship building and systems (American Bureau of Shipbuilding (ABS) Steel Vessel Rules)
- Integration and test of maritime machinery control, navigation, radar, communication, networks, sensors, and associated ship systems, and government furnished equipment
- NG tools such as NX/Teamcenter/ISE/Talent+/Concur/SAP/WLF For the hardware engineering manager position: • Experience with systems engineering tools for risk, requirements and configuration management, and/or integration and test development and management

- Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools for hardware
- An understanding of design for manufacturing practices (developing engineering process, procedures and documentation for manufacturing),
- Familiarity with the design and support of Racks and Consoles, Low-noise analog circuits, Mixed-signal systems, data acquisition, telemetry & communications
- Analysis/simulation tools such as MATLAB and/or Saber
- Design tools such as Mentor Graphics (NX) and Zuken E3
- Troubleshooting electronics and electrical systems; RF, AC/DC power, FPGAs, microcontrollers, serial communication, and schematic capture
