The Secure Communications Systems (SCS) Program has been providing a mobile secure communications product suite to Australian and international government and Defence agencies for nearly a decade. This product suite allows remote access to multiple classified network domains over a redundant array of public and private network bearers and focuses on simplicity of operation for maximum accessibility to users.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the technical delivery and engineering aspects within the SCS Program. The technical team’s development and execution of the SCS product management and support strategy.

Working closely with the Program Manager, you will be responsible for the software development and systems engineering processes in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment. You will also be customer facing working closely with the Chief Engineer and Product Owners to ensure the support and development of the products is aligned to the customer needs.

This is a permanent position based at our head office in Symonston, ACT.

Your role:

  • Develop, coach and mentor the SCS Technical Team

  • Develop engineering strategies that align to the SAFe approach

  • Coordinate and manage integrated product teams to ensure that key outcomes are achieved in accordance with program requirements.

  • Lead and manage the delivery of engineering services for the DWAN Support Contract.

  • Ensure that program technical scope and outcomes are delivered within time, cost, quality and resource constraints.

  • In conjunction with the Product Management Team, maintain oversight of the Product Development roadmap and ensure forward planning is in place

Your skills and experience:

  • Degree qualified Engineer capable of achieving Chartered Professional Engineer status

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and grow high performing technical teams. Demonstrable experience in influencing culture and cultivating high performance.

  • Proven experience in program delivery ensuring the required technical measures are met for quality, performance, budget, and schedule.

  • Experience developing advanced technological ideas and guiding their development into a final product.

  • Experience in implementation of DevSecOps.

  • Nice to have if you have worked within networking and cybersecurity and have experience within Defence environments.

  • Currently hold a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance, or have the ability to obtain and maintain.
