Northrop Grumman's Defense Systems sector is looking for a Military Trainer / Forces Model and Simulations (Air) – Instructor / Controller to join our diverse team in Suffolk, Virginia. In this role, the Forces Instructor / Controller will research and analyze both friendly and adversarial aviation capabilities, serving as a functional expert in the conceptualization, development, and realistic replication of friendly and opposing force (OPFOR) air units, platforms, systems, weapons, munitions, and tactics. The Instructor / Controller will use computer-assisted models to create an authentic training environment that simulates U.S., allied, situational, and adversarial air forces.
Responsibilities:
- Develop OPFOR tactical and operational concept briefings outlining model employment in joint training exercises.
- Operate air models to accurately replicate friendly, commercial, and OPFOR air forces during military training exercises and system tests.
- Utilize knowledge of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTP) to effectively manage aviation forces in the model exercise environments.
- Conduct simulations in Air Warfare Simulation (AWSIM), Joint Conflict and Tactical Simulation (JCATS), Joint Semi Automated Forces (JSAF), Joint Theater Level Simulation (JTLS), and JCATS Low Overhead Driver (JLOD).
- Create air model instructional Program of Instruction (POI), trains new model operators, and provides continuation and refresher training on current models utilized for Joint Staff training exercises.
Basic Qualifications for Military Trainer / Forces Model and Simulations (Air) – Instructor / Controller:
- One of the following:
- High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 7 years of professional experience.
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of professional experience.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent.
- Ability to travel both CONUS and OCONUS as needed (up to 25% of the time).
- Possess an active U.S. DoD Secret security clearance.
- Possess or be able to obtain a valid U.S. Passport.
- Ability to work on-site in Suffolk, Virginia.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the operation of military simulation models.
- Familiarity with the Air Force model AWSIM.
- Active TS / SCI clearance.
- At least 5 years of experience as a commissioned officer, non-commissioned officer, or U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) civilian equivalent.
