Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Engineer – Electrical Systems in Oklahoma, Tinker AFB.

This role leads the B-2 Program in electrical engineering design and integration. Will capture, specify, design, develop and support the procurement, integration, test, production, delivery and maintenance of avionics related products (subsystems, hardware, harnesses, components, services, etc) for military or industrial/commercial systems.  This includes engineering as well as proposal development and evaluation, as well as source selection, and subcontractor technical management. 

Possess key skills necessary to read Electrical Schematics, create Cable Block Diagrams, Wiring Diagrams and translate info/data into Cable and Wire Harness Diagrams. Also responsible for the detailed design of electrical panels/assemblies (circuit breaker panels, junction boxes, control panels).

Ability to determine and develop the avionics architecture which best fits the system level requirements and system architecture.  Determines the avionics procured subsystem design tradeoffs working with subcontractors to develop subsystem detailed specification.  Perform tradeoffs between cost/schedule/performance for competing avionics architectures which meet system performance requirements.  Determine the partitioning of capability, functions, and interfaces within the avionics equipment.  Participate in the systems engineering IPTs to help determine the system level architecture and requirements.               

Specialized knowledge and experience in Vehicle Subsystems packaging design. Have key skills necessary for the preliminary installation design and integration of air vehicle subsystems inclusive of conducting reviews and evaluations to insure component environmental compatibility with air vehicle performance envelopes, determining allocation of growth provisions, development and maintenance of internal and external Interface Control Documentation. Taking the lead in coordination with the Zones Integration Team to represent the Design, Maintainability, Operations and Customer teams to oversee equipment configuration, arrangement/location, physical interfacing, transport element design and secondary structural design in support of the integration of subsystems, avionics and Vehicle Management Systems into an optimized air vehicle platform.

Basic Qualifications: Staff Engineer

  • ABET accredited BS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) and a minimum of 14 years of experience in Aerospace structural design or ABET accredited MS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with 12 years of experience.
  • Experience with aerospace electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and use of HARNESSES
  • This position requires the ability to possess a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as the ability to obtain a Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as the ability to obtain a Program Special access
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills with leadership quality are preferred. 
  • Familiar with the unmanned system and electrical LRU development and qualification process are a plus. 
  • Possess solid experiences in harnesses design and system schematic layout. 
  • Good record of supplier management and able to manage cost and schedule at a professional level.
  • Capable of performing AC/DC power modeling.  
  • Familiar with Mil-Std-704, AS5088, IPC-2221 and IPC-2222.
  • Experience working on Special Access Programs and military aircraft.

Salary Range: 115700 - 173500

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
