Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking for a Principal Systems Engineer - Nuclear Armament OR Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Nuclear Armament to support the Systems Engineering organization in Oklahoma City OK. The candidates will: Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

         Essential Functions:

• Support the conventional and nuclear certification processes of Integrated Functional Capability (IFC) releases, armament subsystem upgrades, and new weapon or weapon modification integration activities

• Ensure hardware/software updates comply with conventional and nuclear safety requirements

•             Exceptional communication skills both written and verbal

• Maintain design documentation and follow configuration management requirements

• Manage and lead the planning and conduct of analyses/tests necessary to obtain nuclear      certification of the updated configuration(s)

• Identify, manage, and demonstrate compliance with nuclear certification requirements

• Support long range capabilities initiative and business capture activities regarding the armament subsystem

• Support the Hardware Sustaining Engineering IPT by providing oversight of nuclear and conventional certification requirements/tasks

• Ensure the certified status of the weapon system is maintained. Duties will also include preparation of detailed statements of work and program schedules, test plans, program status reporting, and Earned Value Management System (EVMS) reporting.

• Experience developing Basis of Estimates (BOE) in coordination with support organizations

Basic Qualifications:

Principal Systems Engineer - Nuclear Armament

•  Bachelors of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university with 5+ years of experience or Masters of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university with 3-4 years of experience

  • Experience verifying specifications and designs through modeling and simulation, test data processing, and performance analysis

•  Must possess an active Secret clearance and program access

Sr. Principal Systems Engineer - Nuclear Armament

•  Bachelors of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university with 9+ years of experience OR Masters of Science Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited university with 7 - 8 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:          

• Advanced knowledge and understanding of governing certifications, specifications, and directives with emphasis on Air Force Instruction (AFI) 63-125, Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 91-118, and AFMAN 91-119

• Working knowledge of multiple engineering disciplines: aerospace, mechanical, electrical, computer, nuclear hardness, nuclear surety, safety, materials, and/or systems engineering (Aerospace or Electrical Engineering preferred)

• Advanced knowledge and understanding of the IFC development and Aircraft Monitor and Control (AMAC) test process and reporting

• Experience with formal decision making processes: risk and opportunity management, cost benefit analysis, make/buy decisions

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret (TS) DoD Clearance and obtain TS Program Access


Salary Range: $83,000 USD - $124,600 USD
Salary Range 2: $102,900 USD - $154,300 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
