Northrop Grumman Space Systems Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Field Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Clear Space Force Base, Anderson Alaska. This site has limited services which allows the candidate to live in Fairbanks AK to commute. 

Position Overview:

The Field Engineer will perform Ground Communications Node maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, and fielding at Clear SFB, Alaska. Work independently supporting the Ground Midcourse Defense weapons systems. Support the Command and Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) system, and the Operational Simultaneous Simulation Framework OSSF as needed.

Daily responsibilities include:

  • Inspections and daily maintenance tasks on the GMD Communications Node equipment
  • Product troubleshooting and repair as necessary on Cisco devices.
  • Assist and support visiting engineering teams installing software
  • Perform cyber patching, anti-virus updates  and other Cyber related activities on the products
  • Support customer needs as required
  • Perform On-Call maintenance activities on a rotating basis
  • Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance, reliability, and security of the system including installing, upgrading, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration
  • Work well in a small team environment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical Engineering or related discipline with 2 years of related experience. An additional 4 years of professional and related experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance and ability to obtain COMSEC and TS/SCI Clearance required.
  • Knowledge of local area networking (LAN) fundamentals with specific experience working with Ethernet routers, switches, and protocols in TCP-IP based communications system.
  • Understanding or experience with Satellite Communications
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn, and ability to work unsupervised at a remote site and interface with a diverse group.
  • Knowledge of UNIX, SNMP and HP OpenView applications.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of time as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CCNA / CISSP certified technician
  • Practical experience with Solarwinds
  • Experience with HP OpenView products
  • Experience with /understanding of COMSEC Handling, KIV-19 A/M/Taclane operations
  • IFICS Data Terminal hardware/software experience or schooling
  • Experience with UNIX applications desired.
  • Process orientation and strong skills in using and following documented processes / checklists.
  • Willing to work flexible schedule to maintain operational capability.
  • Knowledge of military command, control, and communication systems.
  • Strong Communications Skills.
  • Knowledge of maintenance, logistics, and MMICS database desired
  • Team Player

    Salary Range: 68100 - 102100

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
