Northrop Grumman Mission Systems - Field Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer to provide field engineering support to our RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV active electronically scanned array (AESA) systems located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Our development and sustainment operations are managed from our Linthicum, Maryland location.

Conducts technical analysis of product implementations, modifications and enhancements to product in accordance with specific customer specifications and implementations. Analyzes and evaluates products and related performance. Installs, upgrades, maintains, and removes products ensuring coordinative engineering field change. Troubleshoots technical problems and issues, determines technical solution in accordance with product and customer specifications, and recommends actions to company or customer representatives for coordinative product solution. Performs a variety of maintenance and technical support on products such as equipment, integrated systems and subsystems, and software at customer and/or field locations. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. Conducts technical training and product briefing with customers, vendors and company representatives. Acts as local on-site representative to customers organization.

Duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide maintenance support for the RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar system
  • Perform periodic quarterly physical inspections of the RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV (AESA) radar system
  • Create detailed trouble reports for the RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV (AESA) radar system
  • Provide support for emergency divert activities in  support  of security for  the RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV (AESA) radar system which may include travel to another location outside of the continental US (OCONUS)
  • Analyzes system performance, reliability and consumption data of the RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV (AESA) radar system and make recommendations to sustain sensor performance
  • Identify engineering and/or logistics solutions to support the RQ-4B Global Hawk UAV (AESA) radar system.
  • Analyze customer requirements and assist with conducting trade studies to propose various courses of action as needed.       
  • Perform technical planning to support various integration and test activities in both lab and aircraft environments
  • Accomplishes software/hardware testing to ensure functional requirements are met
  • Interface with various customers including Global Hawk and prime contractor personnel

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering or related technical field and 2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 0 Years with Masters
  • Demonstrated experience with analysis of RF systems performance and associated requirement analysis
  • Ability to perform technical planning as well as hands on testing of RF/digital systems as required
  • Effective verbal and written communication, ability to work in a team environment
  • Secret Clearance is required with an investigation completed within the last 5 years.  U.S. Citizenship is a pre-requisite
  • Must be able to travel for emergency divert activities which may include travel to another location outside of the continental US (OCONUS)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experienced with sustainment related analysis of airborne radar systems
  • Experience with USAF sustainment efforts on airborne radar systems hardware and software
  • Experience with MP-RTIP radar operations and maintenance related activities
  • Ability to interface with customer technical and leadership personnel at all levels
  • Top Secret Clearance

Salary Range: 58800 - 88200

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
