Northrop Grumman’s Propulsion Systems organization is seeking a Computer Scientist or similar programming professional to support custom application development.

The position will deploy, support, customize, and maintain the suite of Commercial and Custom applications used by Operations, Process Engineering, and Quality Engineering. In addition, the position will help develop future technology deployments in manufacturing, including mobile devices and augmented reality.

The position is based out of Promontory, UT, location but other locations and telecommuting/remote work options are available.

Responsibilities include:

• Design, develop, and test software solutions and functionality
• Develop robust solutions in an agile environment
• Collaborate with multiple teams in a wide background of disciplines
• Configure, deploy, and administer commercial and custom software
• Maintain strong expertise and knowledge of current and emerging technologies and products
• Provide best practice, recommendations, and guidance to manage our custom software at scale
• Test, fix, and refine the computer software to produce the required products
• Enhance software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency
• Support preparation of required documentation, including user-level documentation

Educational Requirements: 
• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent  with two (2) or more years of experience; or Master of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent with (0) zero years of professional experience
• Candidates with a Bachelor’s degree with five (5) or more year of experience, a Master’s degree with three (3) or more years of experience, or a Doctoral degree will be considered for a higher pay grade, depending on experience and qualifications
• Candidates with degrees in other disciplines will be considered with the appropriate background and skills

Basic Qualifications: 
• Experience with both Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems
• Experience with Java development (this position requires Java development experience)
• Familiarity with DevSecOps, continuous integration and continuous delivery, and testing
• Experience with XML, XSLT, DTD, DOM
• Familiarity with version control software ( eg Git/SVN/CVS ), Jira/ Atlassian
• Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Able to work in an operational environment where priorities change frequently
• Proficient at gathering and interpreting relevant data and information
• Ability to work well in a team environment and possess strong oral/written communication skills
• Able to accurately represent customer requirements by using excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications: 
• Full stack Java development (Java, JUnit, Java EE, Swing)

• JaxWs, Restful services experience

• Experience with HTML, HTML 5, CSS, JQuery, JavaScript, TypeScript, JSON

• Experience with frameworks such as React or Angular

• Experience with Relational databases (Derby, Oracle, SQLServer)

• Experience with microservices and API definitions

• Experience with modern IDE tools and testing mechanisms (eclipse, VsCode)

• Ability to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish project results

• Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions

• Able to obtain a U.S. Government Top Secret security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) TS/SCI

Additional Preferred Qualifications: 

• IBM WebSphere Application Server administration

• Web Server administration (Apache)

• System integration experience

• Network Protocols (HTTP/HTTPS, FTP/FTPS, TCP/IP)

• Knowledge of MRP, ERP, PLM, MES systems

• Regular Expressions (RegEx)

• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and use of computers in the manufacturing area

• Knowledge of Siemens TeamCenter Unified

• Exposure to AR technologies
• Software analysis and business process analysis experience
• Experienced in information system design, including application programming on large-scale database management services and the development of complex software to satisfy design objectives

Travel Requirements: 0-10%  

Salary Range: $71,100 USD - $106,700 USD
Salary Range 2: $87,600 USD - $131,400 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
